Well, I'm not sleeved yet so I don't know for sure...but I can tell you that I'm really not hungry right now, per say...I just had some eggs...but man, I could sure go for a banana split right now. Or some pizza.  Or like a bunch of pizza with some hot wings and a banana split for desert.

And beer.

I relate it to a craving. I know I'm not hungry because I've either just eaten or the "good" foods don't sound like something I want. But, my head keeps telling me eat Pizza, I want ice cream.  This to me is head hunger. My head is leading me instead of my brain.  I hate it when it does that!

You want food, you don't need it, but you want it.  Head hunger was intense for me after surgery the first couple weeks.  I wasn't hungry at all, but I wanted everything and I do mean everything!  Things I didn't even like sounded good, just because I simply wanted to eat. Got much better and although it still rears its ugly head every now and then, it is sooo much easier to control.

Agreed with all of the above, especially the banana split one (damn, that sounds good)

It's when your stomach is totally quiet (no perceptible signals), but your head is obsessing over whatever it is you've got your attention focused on.  That's the addiction part talking... once your body is detoxed from all the crap (sugar, bad carbs, etc.), the physical need for it goes away, but the emotional want for it doesn't.

It's like quitting smoking, if you've ever done that.  The actual nicfits subside once the chemicals leave your body, but you want that cigarette just as much as you did when the nicotine was driving the cravings.

Pretty much the only cure for head hunger is distraction... work on a puzzle, take a walk, play with the kids/your pet, etc.  If you can engage your attention elsewhere, the head hunger gets drowned out and disappears.
