What is/was your motivation for having surgery?
True Story: One day I was in the doctors office, and there was these two ladies sitting in the waiting room. Then lady#1 asked lady#2 "why are you getting the surgery?" Lady#2 responded " I just want to beable to look down and see my girl, with out a mirror....Then lady#1 proceeded to demonstrate how easy it was for her to up and down off the floor, along with other stuff, I pulled my hat over my eyes. I wanted no parts of that convo.....lol
Hey Rekeca~ my motivation is to get off them nasty pills too! I aslo want to father a child(ren) someday, and I did want to do it at my current weight. For many years my weight has prevented me from living to the max. There places I want to go, things I want to do. I haven't been on a roller coaster since grade school. I'm gonna open and shut the park down once I feel comfortable to go again. My motivation is so I can live life to the max.
That may have been too much info for you, especially there at that time. My biggest motivation for having this surgery was the pain in my knees, hips, and ankles and the fact that life was passing me by without me in it. I had hidden from so much because of my weight.
I avoided most everything. I would not get together with friends, stayed away from work related social events, stayed out of as many family outings as possible and was unable to play on the floor with my grandchildren, which was the worst part of it all. Now I can do all those things plus much more.
I hope this is a help to you and was what you were looking for in an answer. I feel life is too short to waste time with losing and regaining the pounds over and over again and I wasted too many years hiding and now I can hold my head up high and enjoy life from here on out. This is the best thing I have done ever for myself and would do it again in a heartbeat if necessary.
Good luck with your journey

I have a few reasons for wanting to have surgery, getting off most of my meds. It is a pain in the butt and expense as well. I want to look better in my clothes, I do not want to be embarrassed having my picture taken, and I am looking forward to a much better sex life with my husband. Those are just a few reasons I want to have surgery.

wow so many factors in my decision:

-to be able to hike more comfortably
-to avoid the diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, high cholesterol, and cancer that runs in my family
-to have a healthy pregnancy when I decide to have kids
-to not have to hide from the cameras
-to end my yoyo struggle with weight that consumed the last 18 of my 27 years of life
-to feel sexy, like myself again, in clothes and out of them (preferably out of them!)
- to be able to stand and perform surgery when I am a veterinarian

I love my daughters with all of my heart and they are my biggest inspiration. I gained weight to protect myself from a lot of things in life. when I had them I realize I was teaching them to exist in a world fearful of what others could/would do to you. There are going to be a lot of times where i will be confronted by my own demons but I would rather teach my daughters to be strong in the face of a challenge them to avoid living
