Any Joggers/Runners?
Hello!.
I only have 2 more doctors visits left!. April and May! Whoo Hooo!.
So did any of you take up jogging/running to get the weight off?. I am pretty agressive when it comes to goal setting and back in my better shape days I could always count on jogging to help me lose weight. I know people experience a gain from the true workouts--especially with weights but what about jogging.
Of course a 2 minute jog would nearly kill me in my current shape!..lol
Also I started doing push ups and chair dips for the big ol arms.

I'm only 6 weeks out and I notice that I hit a stall once I picked up running again. Of course because muscle weighs more than fat but eventually the scale started moving again. (as of this week). I refuse to stop running. Now since I've lost 40pds including pre-op my knees can stand me running again so I have been. But I think you will be fine. Jogging/Running is the fastest way to lose weight period!

When I was younger I regularly jogged. I stopped jogging which contributed to my weight gain.
Post-op I've wanted to take it easy on my knees and instead of jogging took up biking. I bought an excellent Trek bike and regularly ride, alone or accompanied by my daughter. Biking has been great on my knees and great exercise.
Whatever you decide will be fine so long as you get regular physical activity.
Good luck,
George

Hi - I started running about 6 months after surgery doing the C25k programme.
I did my first 10k in Jan and ran a half marathon in Feb. It's totally doable, but definately easier if you get some of the weight off first. Having said that I'm fairly sure that running has helped me really shape my muscles and burn fat - and it's quite addictive - in a pleasure/pain sort of way !
