My Dr gave me 3 weeks. That seems just right for me to get in my routine. Ask for more time if you feel you need it.

I'm taking advantage of the whole 4 weeks my doctor will give me... This way I can get a chance to spend time my my 1 year old baby girl... :-)
A week doesn't seem long enough.. I think you should at least be home 2 weeks.. I guess it also depends on what kind of work you do as well...

I was told 3 to 4 weeks for a laproscopic sleeve, and needed the 4 weeks to get my body back to where I could sit up all day again....and that's for a desk job!  Mitigating factors:  I'm over 50, with bad knees and was on the liquid diet for 3 weeks before surgery, so I was weakened from starvation before.    They didn't even let me get to pureed foods until the 4th week!  Don't know if I could have worked without eating after the surgery.
Listen to your body first, and then your doctor, but I'm thinking you will want a little more time.
Take care.

Initially I was going to take 1 1/2 weeks off from work.  I realized while recovering that wasn't enough, so I took off 2.  When I went back to work, I was so tired I had to leave early for a couple of days.  I have a desk job, but you still need energy to think.

Take as much time as you can; your body is talking to you.

It depends on the type work you do, a desk job... maybe a week but be prepared for longer if needed. You miht be able to work 1/2 days @ a week out.

I am still tired and it is two weeks post op. I work from home and still can't sit up to really work. I say three  weeks sounds more like a better idea. Good Luck!!

I am 39 and healthy.  I went back to work 6 days later.  In fact, I am only 8 days post-op right now and I feel like I am probably 95% to feeling like myself again.  I say listen to your body when the time comes.

I went back to work after 3.5 weeks,  I was really nervous about it but I did just fine.  I am a nurse that works 12 hours shifts on a very demanding unit.  My first day back I only worked 8 hours...had the weekend off and then day 2 and 3 were 12 hour shifts,  my only problem was and still is finding time to get in all of my water and remembering to stop to eat because I don't get hungry.  Everyone is different and believe me if my Dr would have given me more time off I would have taken it.  Good Luck and continued success.

I am 50 and had surgery on a Monday and back to work the next Monday. I run a HoneyBaked Ham Store so no desk job for me.  Make sure you get enough fluids and walk, walk, walk.  You will feel much better than sitting or staying in bed too much.  Hope you feel better soon!
