Okay guys I am supposed to have a vsg in july and I am thinking maybe I should switch to the Rny so tell me have how much weight have you lost did it come off fast should I switch and what made you decide to get this surgery instead of the RNY. I weigh 345 and I want to get down to 150 is this a realistic goal?

I'm almost a month out and have lost 24lbs, but I started at 236lbs. I see many people on here that have started around your weight and have lost, theres also a guy on here that weight 500lbs and is now down in the 200's (I'm blanking on his screen name right now) it is very do-able!

Good Luck!

I am 5 days post op and have lost a totsl of 25 pounds since the start of my liquid diet.  I think that VSG was the right choice for me.  My start was 290 and I would like to be around 140 so I think your goal is reachable!  Good luck on your journey....

I am 2 weeks and 2 days out I have lost 28 pounds total. I have a friend and she was 400 pounds she has lost 198 pounds in 14 months.
That being said faster is not always better... I picked this surgery because it was less evasive. I think you have to take all things into consideration. ?
I think 150 is a realistic goal for either one. Hope this helped!

I am 2 weeks 2 days too because I had surgery one hour before momstephanie and I have lost 13 pounds but I am also a lightweight (I think that is what they call us) so i will not lose as fast and I am happy with that.  I had this surgery for medical reasons and to lose weight.  I really hope to get off a lot of my pills for high blood pressure and other issues.

I lost 31.2 in the first month, but I think so much of it has to do with our starting weight.  I may not be the fastest loser, but my weight loss has been steady.  I'll take steady, significant, sustainable weight loss any day!!

Tomorrow marks 2 weeks out for me.  My highest weight was 317, day of surgery I was 303 and this morning I am 285!  It can be done!  Wishing you the BEST of luck!!

I lost 21 the first month (you can see each week's progress below my ticker!)  Tomorrow is my official weigh in for the week, but so far I'm down another 3 this week, possibly 4 by tomorrow :)

I seem to be averaging 3-4 pounds a week after the initial drop.  That's a nice steady loss!  Oh and I started out at 306.
