Feb. 2011 - Sleeve Sister and Brother Check in

Well, I'm still happy and still have no regrets that I had sleeve surgery, but my weight is coming off very, very slow despite the fact that I eat between 600-800 calories a day. I've only lost 27 lbs. The scale doesn't go up and it doesn't go down, and it's not a stall. I stalled one week after surgery for 2 1/2 weeks, then lost 2 lbs, and now it's stopped again. I have severe bone against bone arthritis in my knee making it difficult for me to walk or exercise. Even though I do walk, I use a cane and even that is painful. I know that eventually as I lose weight, the pain will go away but I need to do something now. I am also unemployed and have tried looking at our local YMCA to use their pool but they want $56 a month to use the pool 2x a week only. I cannot afford that at this time. At the gym where I usually go, I cannot ride a stationery bike or use the treadmill, they do have 2 ellipticals there that I can use because they don't require knee bending, so I'm going to look into it this afternoon and hope for the best!
On the food front, I can eat just about anything with the exception of hamburger or turkey burgers. I have no problem with chicken and they told me that's what I would have problems with, but I can eat it. I'm finding that I can eat about 3/4 of a cup of food now and that worries me, but I'm still doing okay.
I'm so happy to hear that so many of you are having such great luck and my wish is for continued weight loss and many blessings!

Good luck!!

First of all.. congrats to ALL of you for making it this far and i'm proud to be part of this group

I missed the last Feb check-in so wanted to make sure I add this time.. hehe
So far, things are going well.. slow and steady for me, not Rapid loss, but I'm enjoying the other NSV's and health benefits -
- donated 3 hefty bags of bigger sized clothing! good riddens hehe

- health stats improved significantly at my last Endo appt last week- A1C way down, Triglycerides way down, hypothyroidism borderline only.. yaye!
- My fav & BEST = added a tremendous amount of exercise. i HATED any form of exercise before, but i made it a point to walk in my hilly neighborhood post op. then last week i took the dive and joined the town rec center/gym and go 6 days .. swim 3 days, walk the indoor track/treadmill 2 days, trying to muster up enough courage to try one of their zumba classes 1x a week.. lol but LOVE the energy level i have now

- Love the restriction the sleeve's magic provides. i am still SO awed by it !!

some observations of my experience:
- I am only able to eat WAY less within the last 2 weeks than i was during my last month.. very strange. My appetite has really gone down.. like 2-3 tbsp of something and i'm totally full ! i'm just trying to maximize and take advantage of this phase to my benefit during the so-called honeymoon period of 6 mths - 1 yr

- food adversity: eggs in any form (still can't do them, no clue as to why! but glad to see i'm not the only one), bananas (which is actually a blessing in disguise, most all fruits are too carby anyway so one less thing for me to feel deprived about), peanut butter (gets very difficult to swallow) - same feeling since i LOVE PB, but i get the satiety from fresh peanuts, almonds and walnuts now so all is well

Well guess that's all for now.. thanks for the check in and wish you ALL continued success to GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!

I have been losing at a very slow pace too! But the good thing is that I am losing lol. So far I have gone from a size 22 jeans to a 16! My energy has increased and I actually enjoy working out! I have noticed since working out that my hunger has increased! I dont know if that is a good thing or not? I can't seem to stop snacking which is kinda scary for me. Plus I never measure my food I pretty much eyeball it and I still have tons of leftovers for the next few days. I would like to know how everyone else is doing in this dept? What do you use to measure your food when your not home? What are the Feb. sleevers eating?
I think I am counting on my sleeve to do all the work for me! I need to get back on track ASAP!

Only problem here is getting in everything, seems harder now with life distracting me and with so much more variety in my meals. Overall everything is POSITIVE. Except for this damn stall but we aren't talking about that - shhhh - it will pass.
Sorry I posted again. I honestly didnt see your post ...I saw the other Jan post.... ughhh sorry.
I just read your on my OT.
Anywho... Surgery was Feb 1, 2011 the best thing I have every done...Just like the rest of us who share the same feelings. I hit One-derland April 9th at 199.7 and yes I am close.
My HW was like 253 even though at kaiser I recorded it at 250. I just gave away 50 pounds and since surgery I gave away 38 pounds.
I love my sleeve, but it is me that I am falling in love with!

I love to ride my bike. This evening I road 4 miles. Its so freeing and I take the lord with me, or cry, or think of grattitude! I love walking.... I cannot believe I can walk more than 2 and 1/2 hours with limping... I am soooo grateful.

I know what you mean about falling in love with yourself. I am so much happier in my skin now. I used to dread taking my son to his Gymboree class because chasing him around was so tiring, I couldn't get on the ground with him...I just didn't like it. I actually had my mother taking him for about 6 months. Now, I love it. We have so much fun and he's so happy that his mommy is taking him again. Keeping up with him is LESS of a challenge...he is a little boy so he's fast...lol
Continued success to you!! And no worries about the posting.
