Prilosec
While I was in the hospital, they opened the capsules, had me put the little "beads" in the middle of my tongue and swallow them with a sip or two of water. I still do that to avoid the number of whole pills I have to get down in the morning. Just toss the little plastic end pieces.
Hope this helps.

Prilosec, I believe, is one of those pills that should not be crushed. Ask your surgeon or pharmacist. That said, I was swallowing small pills in the hospital and able to swallow pills the size of about a tylenol caplet the week after surgery.
As an additional note, before you crush any of your medication, check with your pharmacist. Some medications are not meant to be crushed at all.

On the RX pamphlet, it says that if it can not be swallowed, to open the capsule, and sprinkle the little balls in a small amount of applesauce and swallow it. Do not chew the little balls. Do not mash, crush, or try to dissolve them. They are time-released and will not be as effective if you crush, mash or chew them.
Make sure you take it, and then wait 1 hour before eating anything else for maximum efficacy as well.
