The more I read the more nervous I get

The vitamins...what to eat 2 weeks out...4 weeks out...6 weeks out.  It all makes me so nervous.  Finding the right protein drink, being able to get my water in...I know you have all been through it but the more I read about it the more I start to panic!  Plus I am getting it done in Mexico and am seeing posts about bloodwork and scopes?  I haven;t done any of that!

Take a deep breath...it can be a bit overwhelming but you just need to take it one step/day at a time. I was overwhelmed with the changing diet but I just focused on what I could eat today. Don't worry about upcoming weeks until you get there. I love the Costco Premier shakes but everyone is different. You can ask for samples as well so try a few and see what you like. But remember, don't get a lot at first. After surgery you may not like the same as you did before surgery. I didn't have my surgery in Mexico but I've been through bloodwork every 3 months due to diabetes and it is a piece of cake. You will do fine!

Any tests that are needed can be done there,  it can seem a little intimidating but we all got through it and if you really want this you can too. Its completlly normal to be a little freaked out, i would say we all go through it but whatever we have to go through is all so worth it.  The first month can be challenging,  but for a lifetiime of health and to like the way you look is so worth it.  It becomes much easier as time goes by and then it becomes second nature.  I hope you find peace with this,  it really is a miracle.  best of luck to you sweetie  ::o) jeani

Hey Nicki!
I just recently got back from Mexicali. If you have any questions just pm me.. They handle all the tests they require the day you arrive.. blood, xrays, urine, EKG.. they do not do a scope.

You will not take vites until almost 2 weeks post-surgery, but if you check Sublimate's FAQ's (link below)- there's a nice list of companies to contact to get protein shakes, samples etc. I got a container of Unjury Unflavored & Chicken (both great to use the first weeks) plus I contacted Syntrax to get the pack of 13 flavors of Nectar, also Premier protein will send you some RTD shakes (they are tasty, had them pre-op.) Chike, Netrition has a protein sampler pack too.. I got all these, but am using the Unjury now.

I will forward you Gaby's explanation of the eating plan, she's Dr A's patient contact.. Most of all, DON"T PANIC! :)

It really is a smooth machine at Mexicali! You will do fine! Most of all, if you have any questions- don't hesitate to contact Nina or Gaby, they respond very quickly and will relay answers to you from the Drs as needed.

Thank you!  It is just all overwhelming and I panic and start to worry I wont be successful.  My neighbor had the surgery and looks great and lost 92 lbs in 6 months but then I see others that have lost 50 in 6 months.  I really want to lose 100 lbs. in 6 months.  I have a long way to go and it does seem the more you have to lose the faster you lose those first 6 months.

So much to worry about!  Do you continue drinking protein drinks after you are able to eat?

You drink them as long as you need to to hit your protein goals.. So if you aren't getting 70+ with your foods, use them as an in-between meals supplement. Just aim for the ones with very low carbs..

On the weight issue, everyone is different. If you have a lot to lose, you will likely lose more in the first few months than someone who's lighter.. Also if you lost a lot on any pre-op diets, you may not lose as fast.. but as long as you keep within the calorie & carb ranges and get some active exercise in there, you should lose fine (at your own individual pace.) This just makes you feel full on a little bit of the proper dense protein foods.. and should help with the hunger.. kinda like the band was supposed to! I got your PM, hope all was well with the removal & good luck with the revision!

I like my protein drink so much that I drink it for breakfast every day. 15 grams of easy protein. relax, you will just take each day as it comes.

Before you know it, you will be three months out like me!

Don't panic, just move through each day concentration on that day.  I know it's daunting, but it's all worth it!!

Good Luck!

I totally understand.  When I was pre-op I got so worked up sometimes from reading these posts that I would almost talk myself out of it.  NOW, I got one thing to say........

JUST DO IT!!
