Any Old Timers with Fibromyalgia?
I'm wondering about being tired all the time. I'm getting in my protein and liquids, but starting about three weeks ago I am just EXHAUSTED. Was tired for about three weeks after surgery, but that went away... and i felt good for a while. I'm happy, can do so much more than before, but I really just want to sleep all the time. I'm thinking it's my old friend Fibromyalgia throwing some more **** my way! Anyone else feeling the same way? Is there something else I should be looking at... Like some vitamin deficiency or something? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I am sorta new, but I do have Fibro and it stinks!!!! I felt so good after the initial 48lb weight loss that came off super fast, but now it's like the shock is over and my body hurts and I am tired again. Truth is though, I do a lot more than I was 58 lbs ago so I may be wearing myself out!!! lol I was praying it would be less painful, but I guess the fibro pain will vary from day to day. Sore all over but the arthritis may be a bit better. Sometimes it's hard for me to distinguish between the two. I haven't started back on the arthritis meds, but I may soon start back on the neurotin. How about you? Do you take meds for it and do they effect you differently since surgery? Hope you get to feeling better. Julie
I have fibromyalgia (widespread muscle pain and fatigue), and I'm hoping the weight loss will help. In the past, when I have dieted (at around 1500 calories/day) as long as I could stay on the diet and make healthy food choices, I always had MORE energy. I tend to have less energy when overeating.
So I hope that I will regain energy quickly.
However, I have been on the pre-op diet for 1.5 weeks now and it's brutal. I am really tired and achy most of the time. No wonder, I'm getting like 450 calories/day.
Every few days, though, I perk up.
Since weight-loss comes in phases, I bet that your body and energy level adjusts to it in phases, too. I wouldn't be surprised if you have more good weeks soon. Let us know over the long term if things improve overall.

Yup, another fibro gal here, and I'm going on three years post-op. I wish I could say the weight loss makes it better, but it didn't for me. Doesn't matter, though; if I'm going to hurt like the dickens anyway, I'd rather not be morbidly obese at the same time :-)
I must say, though, that I feel more energetic when I eat right, stay away from the junk carbs and sugar, and that sort of thing. I've been struggling with the food lately, and I feel like an old dishrag!
Just make sure you are eating protein first and veggies next and taking a good multi-vitamin. It is about the best we can do. Best wishes!

Thanks everyone... I was diagnosed soooo long ago and have been on pretty good drugs to manage it (neuron tin, cymbalta, Vicodin) ever since. No, I'm not back on the neurontin yet, so that may be part of my problem! I, too felt really good right after surgery... Less pain as the weight dropped. It really feels like FMS caught up with me and decided to Whop me in the head! So, I guess I'm gonna talk with the doc about going back on the neurontin.
I have had multiple sclerosis for 10 years. It is helpful to see others with auto immune diseases on here and how it is working with the sleeve. Not sure if this would be helpful for you or not but my neurologist has prescribed ritalin to help with fatigue. I have to be careful with it because it doesn't actually get rid of the fatigue but kind of postpones it so I can do what I need to do when I need to do it... Then the exhaustion catches up with me later...good luck!
