Hi all,
I had surgery on the 20th almost 2 weeks. I have not had a bowel movement. I have tried everything I can think of. I don't know what else to do. Can someone tell me what to do?
Thank you
God Bless

The escalating treatment ala Mom4jazz: Fiber in your liquids/fiber gummies totaling 15 grams a day. If that fails ADD 2 Colace a day. If that fails, ADD another 2 colace (I take morning & evening). If that fails, a dose of Miralax a day until you go.

The first time, I had to escalate even farther to Ex-Lax, but since then my 15 grams of fiber, plus 2 Colace in the morning & evening, plus Miralax every other day has done the trick.

Yeah, I have constipation problems. Had 'em before surgery.

Have you tried a stool softener or maybe some miralax?  Maybe give your doc a call and see what he suggests.

good luck, hope you feel better soon

i was the same way... and I have a BM every week! the doc said I can do a tbs of magnisum citrate and  or colate shoot i think I spelled that right.  you can add benifiber powder mixes to your crystal ligh as well its 10 bucks for 24 packets they're like crystal light  you need to have 3 a day though to keep your BM coming good :) hope this helps! congrats on getting hte surgery, I remember how your family was against it for fear something would happen to you!!

I went home with stool softeners so I would highly recommend you get your doctor to prescribe something.  Suppositories and fiber should do the trick.  I take fiber daily and only have a few days every once in a while where I'm backed up.  Once this clears up make sure you incorporate either benefiber or gummy fiber DAILY.

Good luck to you!
