I am so confused???
So two black kids… and by kids I mean like 19 year olds, they're wearing huge chains… have golden shiny teeth and walk with a limp ( I am so not kidding) Ive spent enough time in Compton to know these were not real hoods… they probably attend Bellarmine Prep school… So they walk up and mutter something… Im like "ehhhhh???" and he pulls out some CDs in clear unmarked cases and asks if Id like to buy one. I say "no thank you". He then says"Miss Miss" I turn around and he says "Are you single" I kind of ignore him, I know these sales ploys… I keep walking when he runs up behind me and asks " Are you single?!?!" I smile and say "no, sorry" He asks again "No really are you single" I said "Really Im married and have 3 kids… and am 30 years old" He looks surprised says "oh, you're hot" and runs off as fast as he can with his pants hanging clearly under his ass and his shoes that look 14 sizes too big.
Why did I enjoy this… I don't know but it was ******g amazing…. As I am walking away I feel something slithering on my ass… Im wearing a long maxi dress and think at first… its my new darker toned friend… no such luck.. its my panties falling off…
And my response
I don't think you meant it to come off the way it did but I do agree with Crystal. The reference to the skin color was not cool at all...It actually pissed me off...for me the color reference took away from what could have been a good story....And please I don't want to hear that I'm too sensitive because unless you have been told by an entire city to "go back to Africa" (group incident) or if you have been the only person followed around in a crowded expensive store (yes I can afford to shop in them), you have absolutely no idea why I feel this way....
Please be considerate of others when stories are written. Let this be a reminder to everybody the perception is everything when you are not relaying something in person.
Was seen as me telling her that she was racist and I thought she was racist. I didn't state that (so lets not get my words twisted). What I said that what she wrote was the story was good but there was no reason to mention race for a description. What is wrong with just using a 19 year old boy or why did we have to use my darker toned friend?
I understand that everyone has friends and family of different races. So do I, and there is nothing wrong with using a description of that person's race but it's how you use it is where problems can arise. Unfortunately, as much as we want the race issue to begone, it's not, and we should act accordingly. And when race issues happen to you personally alot, you tend to be slightly sensitive on how things are presented.
I am not going to comment on this issue again. I just needed to let everyone know what the deal was and why I felt her words in the context that they were used was not cool with me.
As y'all say, we are all family, the family squabble is now squashed!

I saw where she apologized and conceded to not meaning to offend anyone which is all any sorry person could and would do. Whether she felt she was wrong or not she apologized and that was the responsible, right thing to do. Good for her!
You rightfully so spoke your mind as you should have in the event of strong beliefs and injured feelings. In doing so you brought some insight to what is not so obvious to some of us, which is the responsible, right thing to do. Good for you!
My prayers and best wishes to all the fabulous OH comrades that was involved in this....so that you are able to mend fences and let this bygone be bygone. May there peace once more in our happy OH home, Amen! :)
