I am having vsg surgery on June 6th.  Thought I new about surgery.  Someone mentioned a bougie.  In my studies I  didn't see anything about bougies and how close they make the cut to the top or bottom of the stomach.  I would greatly appreciate any more info I am missing or you think I should be asking my surgeon.

Thanks,

Michele

A bougie is just a tube they put into the stomach when they cut away the stomach.  It is used as a measurement so they they don't cut too much or too little.  You can go to you tube and actually watch the surgery.  Go to endobariatric or weightwise.  Both are good videos and they explain what they are doing while they do it.
