April 2011 Sleevers: How's it going?

I had my sleeve done 4/25/11. I lost 20 pounds in the first two weeks but have been at a stall for the last 4 days. Matter of fact I even gained a pound! I went back to work in 1 week but haven't made much time for exercise. I went to the gym last Fri and walked half mile on the treadmill and did the eliptical for about 7 minutes, and a few weight resistence exercises. Other than that no exercise yet for me. I am still on mushies but have eaten chicken a few times with broth, gravy, bbq sauce or diet mayo. I also eat applesauce, pureed pears, peaches. I've had an egg. I eat cream of wheat. I'm getting in about 40-50 grams of protein a day but am supposed to be getting 90 grams. I'm not sure how much fluids I'm getting in...My incisions healed nicely and I havent had any real problems to speak of. I am having some pain in my side today which I suspect could be my gallbladder although I've never had a problem with it before. I can eat about 1/3 cup of food at a time. I take vitamin B-12 under my tongue daily and will try to remember to start my other chewable vitamins this week. I was supposed to start them last week. I take Pepsid daily but it doesnt seem to be enough. I was on Nexium prior to surgery and have had to open capsules and put on tongue since. Congrats to all of the other April sleevers and I look forward to this journey with you.

You are doing well except it sounds like to me you are getting a lot more carbs than I am supposed ot have. I can have up to 40 carbs a day but don't usually get anywhere near that. I try to get a lot of protein in but am looking for more food choices. I just need to plan. I'm sure when I start working I'll have to do just that.
Keep up the good work!!

I have lost 44lbs since pre-op diet and 28lbs since surgery on 04-20. I am getting in 85-95oz liquids daily, eating about 2-3oz soft foods per meal. And taking pills fine, all vitamins plus my other meds. I am finally cleared to work out at the gym and I am really enjoying it. I am doing 35min on treadmill, 10 min on ski machine and lifting for 40 min 3-4 times weekly. I am feeling good, not tired at all. I hope all is doing well.

Yesterday was four weeks since my surgery.   And I was able to begin soft foods, yay!   I don't know if it's coincidence or different foods, but I was able to eat a little more yesterday.   Previously, I'd been able to eat, say, 2 tablespoons of egg salad.  Yesterday I could eat almost 1/4 cup.  This is good, because I was averaging 200-300 calories a day and I felt like I needed a bit more fuel :)     Also, I could drink a little more.  Which is also very good because I want to get my fluid intake up to what it should be.

This morning I tried a new protein, which is *delicious*!   It's Jay Robb's protein.  I really like it.  I haven't liked any of the shakes I've tried until this one.  I've been drinking Isopure, which I also like, but I need to switch things up or I get so sick of one thing that it gags me.   I bought a sample kit from Jay Robb, and am looking forward to trying other flavors, too.  I know it's more expensive, but as others have said here, our health is worth it.

I am down 36 pounds -- 15 from pre-op diet and 21 since surgery.  And I am having NSVs, which are so exciting!   Yesterday I walked with a coworker, and without even thinking about it I was keeping up with her.  And she said, look at you go!  And, the best part is, I wasn't out of breath!  Wooohooo!

This is an exciting ride, and so far it's great :)

J.

Down 23 lbs (including 11 during the pre-op diet phase)- Have been in a stall for 2 weeks, but remaining positive

Exercise: trying to walk 30-60 minutes daily, gardening- still feeling fatigued return to work next week-- we'll see how this goes

Protein: Tolerating 2 protein shakes a day mixed in 8 ox skim milk, have to add in Peanut Butter, few slices of banana. to tolerate the taste (did not tolerate 1st 2 weeks post op)

Liquids: Water (has to be ice cold!) V8 tomato juice

Food: soft (chicken, fat free cottage cheese, turkey sandwich meat, Boca burgers, light laughing cow cheese wedge) 3-4 bites 2-3x/day

Vitamins/meds: Chewable tums (for the calcium, and helps with the reflux too!), Flintstone chewable, Miralax 1x/day mixed in the protein shake

Have an appointment thurs with nutritionist-- hopefully get some tips to get off this weight loss stall!!!
