Whoever said, "There is nothing to fear but fear itself" LIED!
My sentiments, exactly. I, too, have had this EXACT feeling.
I'm a teacher, and people really don't understand how hard it is to efficiently do our job at our best capacity, because we're limited in so many ways. I told my close friend on last night that I plan to lose 100 pounds in 6 months, and I'm going to stick to that
. There are so many choices I've made in my life, both good and bad; however, I'm praying that this is indeed one that gives me the fulfillment I so desire. Yes, I have most of the things I want in life (house, car, no children, degrees, etc..) BUT this one thing is something I've longed for. I've been overweight my ENTIRE life. I've NEVER known what if feels like to be at "normal" weight. I simply just want a better quality of life.
I am very happy for you, and yes WE CAN get through this. Let's be accountablity partners. Keep one another uplifted and let's DO THIS!!!
I look forward to getting to know you!!

Ummmmm....are you me?!? Did you step into my life?! WOW! LOL I see myself in you so much! I'm a teacher as well. I have ALWAYS been over weight. I don't have pregnancies, illness, medication or anything to blame my weight on... JUST ME AND MY BAD EATING HABITS. I want to know what it's like to be a normal weight. I want a better quality of life and not be limited to what I can do because of obesity. I've been held down long enough because if weight issues. Now, it's time to see what life is like on the other, lighter side!
I'd love to keep in touch and be accountability partners. I need all of the support I can get!
PS. I love the quote! I'm slowly releasing the fear! LOL

every one of us had the fear that we would be the one person in the whole world for whom this surgery would not work. But it will. I promise. Just make your mind to follow your doctor's program religously even if its unpleasant at times - especially early on. And don't get to fixated on getting 100 lbs off in 6 months. Some do that and some don't. Just don't feel like a failure if you don't hit that mark. You will still get to where you want to be at your own rate. Just focus on staying on program. Its critical to develop good habits early out that will serve you for a life time. at 6 months i was down 65 lbs (not counting pre op) but i got to goal with total loss of 125. So don't let arbitrary timelines get you too wigged out.
As to that stomach, well, its making you sick and unhealthy so out with it!! Thats how I began to think of it. Having all that ghrelin made me fat and ill so good riddance.
Anyway, good luck. you will be gla d you did this.

You are right. I won't let time lines get me down. I will keep in mind that I need to follow the doctor's rules. And while I am pushing for 100lbs., I have to be aware that this may not happen, but I'm surely gonna push for it!
I'm hoping not to get into that 'I'm a failure' mindset. And if I do, please slap me out of it! LOL When I think about it, it's kind of common sense. Eating less, exercise more, hydrate and the weight should come off! Let's hope it's that simple! LOL
65lbs down in 6 months is a major accomplishment, one I know I'd never achieve without this procedure, so if I don't make 100, I'll be happy with what I do lose IF I follow the doc's orders. AND I PLAN TO DO THAT!
And I like your thinking about the stomach. Anything that isn't helpful to my life needs to be removed! (And that goes for more than food!)
Thanks for the encouragement!

I felt that way too. I think most of us have those thoughts at one point or another. I had them when I hit my stall at 2 weeks out. I thought ok I'm in a stall so just wait it out. One week stretched into 2, then 3, 4,5,6 and I'm thinking I really am the only person this isn't going to work for. I knew I was right on with the diet so I started thinking DS. Then suddenly this week I started losing again by the half pound a day increments. So what I am saying is that you will come to those points even after surgery where you will wonder if you are the only person that is going to fail in this diet/surgery. I think the main thing is to stay true to the diet, log in your food everyday on some type of online program, stay with the group even after a few months when a lot of people don't check in anymore at least read the posts daily to stay encouraged, don't get ahead of the food program your Dr has given you, and last WORK THAT SLEEVE!
Lord Jesus... If I have a stall to last that long!!! But I commend you for staying encouraged. I'd probably be so mad and upset! But I will TRY my best to remember that these things happen and they shall pass! I use myfitnesspal loosely right now, but I will be logging daily after surgery. (Should be doing this now, huh???) LOL But thanks for the encouragement and I will WORK my sleeve!
