Newbie lurker here! Just got approved & have a surgery date!
I have been lurking on this site, reading it almost every single day since February. I have been soaking in all the information I can from all of you and have learned so much! I feel like I have done a lot of research and am going into this eyes wide open. I know there will be a lot of good, some bad and some terrible, but I'm ready! Oh am I ready!
My surgery date is June 22 but I am not going to wait to start losing weight! I'm going to start immediately. I'm going to try many of the foods and eating strategies that I'll need post-op so I can practice.
Thanks to all of you out there who've gone through this, whether you're one day out or 6 years out. I have learned so much by reading your experiences. My only real worries are surgery complications (I know the risk is low, but it's possible) and my impending divorce from food. I know I must make different food choices and eat less volume (volume eater here!) and I know the sleeve is a tool to help me. I am considering getting some additional counseling for the mental part as well, although I'm generally a strong person, I've been fighting obesity since kindergarten.
Thanks for the silent support you've already given me and I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you! How about a WOOHOO?!?

Hi. I've recently been scheduled for surgery on June 8.... and I'm feeling similarly to you! The lurking, learning, reading, growing.... but also the "divorce from food" and the possible surgery complications. I just want the surgery over with so I can let go of that worry at least -- I know there are possible other potential problems along the road, but I'd like that worry done! I have 3 small children and can't get anymore life insurance (or afford it****il I lose weight, so I just want this risk done! :-) (All that worry, even though I know driving home from my doc appointments and the actual childbirth bringing those 3 gifts into the world were/are riskier!)
The mental part is absolutely amazing. I watch the Style Network's "Ruby" ... have you watched that? It's what really started me thinking, working on the mental side and admitting so much to myself. I have toyed with counseling, as well.... she's going through Over Eaters Anonymous.... I've looked into it, although I don't think it's appropriate right now in my life, if I begin to see ANY issues post-surgery, I'll be looking further into the mental work. (or should I say psychological work)
Good luck to you!!! I start my pre-op 2 week diet tomorrow.... nervous about how ugly I will likely become -- cravings, etc.... but maybe I'll do better than I think?? LOL
Take care and good luck!

Haven'****ched Ruby but have watched many shows on weight loss and read many blogs/books/articles. I don't expect this to be easy, but I feel about as well prepared as I could be!!
So true about June 22 here before I know it!
Under 200 definitely deserves a WOOHOO!
By the way, how do I insert my surgery date under my avatar? I've been looking all over for it and can't find it.
