I am having VSG surg at 9:30 in the morning and I am freaking out.  I keep thinking what have I gotten myself into.  I just keep thinking about the what ifs, when I should be saying I can't wait till.......and make that list, but I just can't seem to do it.  Anyway good luck and congrats to all other that are having surg on 6/2/11

I remember those feelings all too well; it is a big step in your life.  However, despite all my fears, anxieties and trepidations, the entire day went so fast - it was over before I knew it, and I had very little complications.  (There were some because I have a disease which causes my medium-sized blood vessels to, as the surgeon put it, become "juicy," but that all happened while I was out, so I didn't know anything about it until afterwards.)  My recovery was remarkably uneventful except for a LOT of fluid retention, for which they gave me lasik and kept the catheter in an extra day. (I was actually grateful for that because otherwise, after the lasik, I would have had to get up every 20 minutes to pee!)

I know I have said it many times, but my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

BEST ...  DECISION  ...  EVER!

Good luck to you tomorrow, but if you're like 90% of the VSGers on here, you'll not regret the decision!

Hi sorry you are so stressed.  The way you are feeling is not uncommon, I'm sure you didn't decided to do this over night. Try to calm your racing thoughts and look on the positive side.  Remember why  you are  doing this, to be healther, being  a prisoner to  obesity  is not living there is no joy just daily misery and sadness   June 7 will be a year out for me. honestly I would do it all over again. The first few days are the worst but nothing you can't handle .   Will yours be laproscopically?  Remember you are so worth it!  You will start loosing and look back  on this and wonder why you waited so long. Lets us know how it goes?  You are in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely  Dolly

I will probably be nervous too, when I am about to have surgery.  Right now I am waiting for the Insurance to let me know that I can have the sleeve.  I really wish I was in your place tonight.  I really want this.  Hopefully in a year we will both be much smaller and healthier.  Say some prayers and you'll be fine.

Hey Donna,
You and I are in the same boat...waitin, waitin, waitin.  I, too, wish I was in her shoes too.  But hopefullly we won't have to wait too long - I'm convinced I'm going to start feeling better when this weight starts to drop off my body.  \

Good luck!

You sound like me. I won't lie, a part of me still wonders just what I've done to myself, but so far, my experience has been quite easy, thank God! The gas pains when I first woke up were the worst, but I didn't have much pain after that. Incision pain was very minor. I was released the and went home the next day. Honestly, I have had NO problems, and I hope all goes well for you!
