Hi Everyone!
I'm Kate and I'm new to the boards. I've been on the weight-loss surgery journey for several years. A lot of set-backs and one baby later I'm almost at the finish line (or operating table) I should say. I'm from southern NJ and am with Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. My doc and I just decided TODAY that I would switch from my original decision of lap-band to the gastric sleeve. I'm excited and terrified all at the same time.

You're going to find that everyone on here is really great. They offer great advice, help you stick to plan, comfort you when you're struggling, and help to give you a kick in the pants when you need it.

hi Kate my name is Dora I'm from New Jersey also I want to get the sleeve I did everything and just waiting to get approved 
I'm going to Dr.Wasser in willingboro and can't wait to get this done but scared at the same time. I was going to get the band at first but after talking to my doctor and research more about it.... I'm not liking it, I don't think it will work for me that good!!! good luck I think we are making the right decision 
I can assure you both that you are making a good decision in my opinion not getting the band. I'm a 7 year bandster getting revising this Friday the 17th! I only wish I had this option when I got my first band. My band journey helped me to accomplish losing 50 lbs. but I also had 7 years of pain, vomiting, and hundreds of trips back and forth to the doctor's office.

Welcome to the OH board Kate. Great to have you here. I think you are making a great choice, but I am partial. Hehe. The sleeve has worked great for me. I am 10 weeks out today and things are going good. I feel better than I have in years.

I am cruising the same path. I initially started to think about this process in 2004, it wasnt until this year that I moved forward with the process. I recently started my pre op diet, and muddling through that.
This OH group is wonderful and I have learned so many things pre and post op. This forum has been a wealth of information, and some very nice people that make it a whole lot easier!!
