I had one pre-op and at 6 month followup. Because mine was enlarged I had to do 2 weeks pre-op diet instead of 1 week. It was "almost normal" at 6m follow up.

For those who had the liver ultrasound was it bc your liver enzymes were elevated? My husband is going to see a gastro doc next week for elevated liver enzymes. I had VSG, he didn't and is very overweight, I'm worried about him. I looked it up and it said the cause could be alcohol, obesity  or prescription drug use. He has been on the same BP med for over 20 years and he doesn't drink. Wish he would have VSG!

Yes. I have "fatty liver disease" and it was diagosed first by elevated enzymes and then by ultrasound. The ultrasound didn't hurt, just uncomfortable from them jamming that damned stick in your stomach. They will probably ask him about his diet. You can read up on it. It CAN be reversed, but it takes a lot of preserverence. It's one of the reasons I opted for a WLS in general :)

My doctor does an ultrasound on everyone. Also did legs to check for clots.
