Anyone take it? Anecdotes to share? I was prescribed this today for newly diagnosed ADHD because I was wary of jumping into treatment with stimulants.. Just wondering if it is working well for those who take it. The dr started me on a half dose and is going to slowly increase it over the next few weeks.. Thanks for anyone who shares!

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

I've taken it for some time as opposed to more traditional stimulant based ones.  It helps, but is not as effective as, say, Ritalin and Adderol.  I only recently changed to the stimulant based ones at a low level to begin with, and I haven't experienced any "stimulant" effects.  But that's me.  I also take Intuniv which is good for impulse control.  I think it does help.  My only advice is trial and error.  Take it as prescribed by your doctor, and be cognizant of any changes in your behavior.

I took it for a couple of years also for ADHD and noticed that it was doing absolutely nothing at all for me personally, so I told my Dr. and he took me off of it. I have learned to have little habits that have helped me manage it succesfully over the years, so I figure I'll cut the meds and go back to doing it naturally. Some things that helped me were to #1- excersize daily (which I had stopped doing prior to wanting meds) it seemed to level me out, help me re-focus, and cut out the anxiety completely.
#2-Take time to either pray or meditate daily- oddly this helped the MOST, but finding 20 minutes early in the am to do deep breathing outside just doesn't happen all the time and is hard when you have ADHD as you have to stay still and focus on nothing.
#3 to be successfull at work and college I had/ have to use a paper planning system (franklin covey works best for me) as well as rely heavily on outlook or email systems to prioritize my day and tasks so that I don't get scattered and so that I actually have productive days and complete full projects. I have a lot of little "systems" as I call them, but I lived with this for a long time before meds, I figure I'll do fine without them. I just need to get back to the gym regularly.

Hopefully the strattera will work for you!

A nurse friend of mine calls it "dirt medicine" because it works as well as dirt. I hope you are the exception!!
