Hi All,
I am almost 9 weeks out from WLS.  My hair has been falling out pretty bad for 2 weeks. I am afraid to bru**** My hair is the longest it has been for many years. I love my pony tail, when it gets hot it keeps so much cooler than short hair. Ok can anyone tell me what is going to happen now, do I have to get my hair cut. When will this stop. I don't think I was this upset when I was bald from breast cancer treatments, maybe that this is why I am so scared, I don't know. Thank You.
God Bless
Evie

Hello Evie,

I just had a massive tumor removed from my abdomen last summer and yes my hair too fell out.  It is scary but you will NOT lose all your hair.  It will be a bit thinner for a bit but then it just stops falling out as fast as it started.  It is scary but it will stop.  It is very common after surgery.  I wish you the best of luck!  My surgery is set for July 29, 2011!!

Hi Evie.  I know it's scary, but it is only temporary.  It won't all fall out, just thin a little.  Mine started to fall out at 2.5 months (about where you are) but never enough for anyone to notice.  I'm seven months out tomorrow and it has started to grow back in - I have these little whispys around my face now (yeah, really cute).  It's going to be alright.  Relax and enjoy the good parts and don't sweat the small stuff.  {{{Hugs}}}

I'm with debk21. My hair fell out from 2 months out until about 7 months out. It's all growing back in now and I've got lots of little hairs by my hairline. It's a little annoying to see so much hair sticking up, but it's nice to know it's coming back in. It was down to the bottom of my bra line and I cut it to my shoulders. I sure regret it. I'm not going to cut it anymore. I'll probably just keep it where it is now until the rest of my hair catches up and then I'll let it grow again.

It's going to be alright!

Hi Evie - I'm an Evie too (Evelyn)! I've never known another Evie. :)

I feel your fear girl. My hair is falling out big time and I love my pony tail too. I keep waiting for it to slow down, but it hasn't yet. I'm really trying to put it out of my mind and rely on what other OHers keep saying about the fact that we won't go bald and that it will grow back. I wonder how thin it will get - it's amazing how much hair is in that shower drain each day though.

Focus on the positive - goodbye LBS. forever, right? Hang in there!

Evie, Mine is falling out too - didn't start until about 4 months out - but it's been going strong lol... I am hoping it stops soon, but who knows. It's just hair - it WILL grow back!! Make sure you're getting your proper nutrition, taking your vitamins, and drinking plenty of water and you will be fine!!
