My surgery went well. Discomfort in abdomen which I expected. I passed lots of urine thru catheter so they removed it this morning. I got to drink water after that and was going potty by myself 2 hours later. Tomorrow I get to drink more than jus****er. Then go home if all is well! Only issues I have had so far are itching from morphine and getting in and out of bed. They switched my meds to dilaudid and gave me benadryl via iv. I am working on a better way to get out of bed. The first leak test went well.

I walked once yesterday and 6 times today so far. I have prayed for a continuing good recovery. Thanks for all your wisdom and prayers!!!!! My husband is also super supportive.

Any questions just fire away.

I have heard others out here talk about leak tests done at hospital after surgery and then at different intervals after their surgrey. My daughter and hubby had the surgery in May and there are no leak tests scheduled. I am in process of getting it. They only do endoscopy to check for leaks if there is an issue. Just so I understand when you say leak test you are talking about endoscopy where they put scope down your throat to look for leaks?

Good for you for getting it done. I hope you continue to have success. My hubby had a lot of itching with morphine also and had to use the dilaudid, that stuff is strong, it knowcked me on my butt when I took it. Why is getting in and out of bed an issue, is it pain or just hard to lift up and swing out?

Good luck to you and keep up the good work!

My leak test is different. Doc has a drain in and tests the drains for saliva (amalaise) . He likes this better bc there is no pain or swallowing for the patient. I will get another test in the AM and hope that looks good too.

If it goes as well as mine you well be fine. At most only had a 3 on the 10 scale for pain (mostly gassy from the anesthetic) and it was one by two days out. Definitely try to move around as much as you can. It will help the recovery process.
