i was on a liquid diet the 24 hours before my surgery, so i didn't eat anything.

most people have to do liquids the day before surgery, so if that's the case for you, i wouldn't eat anything!

regardless, i would stick to what your doctor told you to eat - you dont want to risk having the surgery cancelled.

Tonight is the last night I'm able to eat regular food. I have to start liquids tomorrow. We're going to a mexician restaurant. I love Mexican and the family - not so much. So tonight is my choice. No margarita tho!

I've been on a liquid diet for 3 weeks .. night before surgery I was told that I can't have anything to drink or eat after midnight.

Please don't waiver on your surgeon's assigned pre op plan particularly the night before surgery!!!
Most folks have, at a minimum, liquids only 24 hours before surgery (almost any type of major surgery, I think).
You don't want to have surgery postponed for eating....assuming that's your surgeon's directions.

PS-   It's not like you're never going to be able to eat with them again. Just give it time and you'll be back to chicken and veggies (probably will want to ditch the mashed potatoes).

you are having gastric surgery..............ummmm LIQUIDS???

As a nurse I say that sarcastically but with heart and a big hug.

Let me tell you a story.. this is true.

When one of my friends had her endoscopy prior to her lapband surgery the doctor took a picture and asked her why she ate a piece of dog BM the night before her endo?? She went out the night before and had prime rib for supper. So he gave her the Xray photo of the partially digested steak.

I guess what I am saying is stay with the liquids.

Good Luck

I was on strict liquids 48 hours before surgery.  My doctor specifically said that my surgery would be cancelled if I ate anything 24 hours before surgery.  I was a revision from the band, so I may have had stricter rules.  I know some people who were allowed to eat what they wanted the night before surgery.  Most of them got really sick after surgery and spent lots of time in the bathroom if you know what I mean.  Just make sure you are following your doctors orders and good luck!  Life with the sleeve is great!

No bathroom issues here, except nausea from morphine. Considering those (including me) were advised NPO from 10pm on, the stomach is totally clear of food or liquid prior to surgery..
