Muscle Milk

Does anyone use Muscle Milk protein shakes?  I'm on my liquid diet and had one this morning while I was waiting at the airport.  I was just wondering if it fits into the guidelines for protein shakes because the one I had was pretty good (as far as protein shakes go).  I had the Muscle Milk Light in Chocolate.

Thanks!

I'm no expert - but I use Light Muscle Milk all the time - I am over a year post op and still use it to get in all my protein- I think it only has 100 calories and no sugars.

What I was told about muscle milk at my nutrition class is that there are too many carbs, too much sugar, and too many calories for the amount of protein in it... but I like the flavor a lot and have one every now and then anyway.. :)

It was on the list of approved protein shakes from my doctor...

I originally started out with Muscle Milk Light, but they made it a challenge to keep from going over on carbs during my pre-op diet... I could only have 30g/day.

if you like MML, I'd recommend trying Unjury's Chocolate Splendor... half the carbs and as good, if not better taste.

If I recall the MM Lite has < 10 G of carbs, 20 something g of protein, and 200 or so calories?

I used to drink it all the time until I found EAS Myoplex Lite, I went with this one because it actually had more carbs AND the MM Lite was rough on my stomach (don't know why, it's for lactose intolerant...wonder if that makes it intolerable for lactose tolerant peeps??).

As far as milky shakes to the ready to drink chocolate and vanilla are both pretty good, I would not drink 'em for non-nutritional reasons but they are way better than most other milky drinks.  It's funny that I judge food by the degree to which it makes me sick now lol.

I'm also about to re-try greek yogurt, 15 to 20 grams of low carb low calorie substance that's cheaper than any protein drink out there.  If it doesn't make me sick I'm down lol.

Sleevedup - Try the Dannon Greek.  The Fage is pretty good too.  I tried the Oikos and the Athenos and both of them were gross.  Good luck!

Yeah, I got one cup of Dannon plain and one of dannon vanilla, was shocked at the carb difference between the two...guess the flavored ones are not such a great idea for a late night post dinner snack.

Will try out the plain one tonight and the vanilla one in the morning (pre-teeth-brushing) lol.

I tried the Athenos ones right after surgery...no fond memories...but I don't think my palate is as sensitive as it used to be.  Thanks for the suggestion :).
