How fast do you eat?

Back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was researching my WLS options, there was much discussion on taking small bites, chewing well, and waiting between bites.  I realize that most of us sleevers can eat normal sized bites, chew normally, and eat fairly quickly, but I do not often see anyone talking about the pace of eating anymore.

For me I think I enjoy my food and feel more satisfied with smaller portions if I slow down.  I also feel less out of control when I am slowing myself down.  Even still I have to make a conscience effort to do so.  So, I wonder how fast does everyone else eat?  Does it matter to anyone else?

I would finish my food first all the time, for me this is hell. I have to get up and walk around when I eat or I will snarf 1/4 cup of cottage cheese in one bite!!
If I should forget to walk around, my sleeve reminds me WHY I should! Especially when my brain is screaming FOOOOOOD!! It's really hard for me.

I can eat at the same rate as pre-op, which is pretty fast.  I try to slow myself down and chew more, 'cause I think I digest better if my food is more chewed since I don't have as much stomach as before to churn and grind it down.  But I don't always remember!

To be honest, I have not really changed HOW I eat (how much, and what, YES!) but I still bite, chew and eat the way I did before being sleeved. Learning how to NOT eat and drink at the same time was a harder chore and I still will take an occassional sip of something shortly after eating, but most of the time I wait about 20-40 minutes.

When I'm with a group of people I have to slow down or I will be the first one to finish (due to the small quantity of food) and I hate just sitting around watching others eat.

At almost 9 months out, I still take at least 1/2 hour to eat.  Although I can take larger bites than I could shortly after the surgery, I still find that it very uncomfortable if I eat too much or too quick.  I am just more satisfied eating slowly, which means I also still chew my food thoroughly.  It took a while getting used to, because I used to gulp down my food, but that's one of the reasons that I had the surgery in the first place.  I'm happy to still have that restriction!

Definitely slower for me. I can take 15-20 minutes on a cup of cottage cheese. If I go too fast tum-tum will let me know in a hurry.

I'm with the other posters on this.  I haven't slowed down too much (although I bet I'm slower than pre-surgery) but the portions, what I eat, and especially the not drinking 20 mins before and 1 hour after meals are non-negotiable.
