just Whining

I had my GB surgery on Tuesday and I'm still in a lot of pain... way more pain than I had after VSG. So, I'm still taking Percocet about every 4 hours. AND, I hate Percocet (or any drug that makes me too dopey to drive/function). It's just one of the four incisions that's really hurting and the PA at my doc's office said that's the one they removed the GB through, so it will be more painful than the others. I'm not eating as much protein as I should, probably because of the Percocet. I added hulled hemp seeds to my yogurt this morning to try to boost the protein a bit. On top of everything else, I have GAINED 7 pounds since before surgery. I know some of it is water weight from the IV and from swelling. Probably some of it from being more sedentary when I was being very active. It's just f***ing depressing. So, that's my ***** for the day! On the brighter side, I bought size M (6) underwear to wear into surgery! LOL! Also, bought a pair of size 10 skinny jeans. WOOT!! Now, if you all would do a "Lose that 7 pounds and more" dance for me, I'd really appreciate it! Hope everyone's having a good weekend!!

I'm dancing away!! Sorry you are having so many problems and I'm wishing you a speedy recovery!! (Hugs!)  Hang in there but if the pain isn't better soon I would definitely contact my surgeon again!! Can you do any of your protein shakes for a little while to at least get in your protein?

Every bag of IV fluid weighs 2.2 pounds.  I'm sure you received at least 3 or 4 in the hospital.  Trauma, and surgery is a big trauma, begets swelling.  So your 7 pounds are definitely water weight that your body is holding on to as it heals your surgical trauma.  I bet you lose it this week and then a few more from not eating much this week!

PS -- I'm praying my gallbladder gets taken out with my surgery, because I know I'll be in your shoes if it doesn't.

Best wishes,
Jami
