I am looking into the sleeve, and my biggest fear is reflux problems.
How many of you have reflux issues with the sleeve.

My band was removed february 2011 due to slip. Now looking into sleeve. Thanks in advance!

Hey there neighbor!

I had my sleeve done 2.5 weeks ago. Have just started with pureed foods and was having a few probs. Our docs' office told me to try some rolaids and so far it's been helping

Good luck to you!

Yep
I developed reflux after VSG. I take daily Nexium Rx. Now my surgeon says that it still may go away as I continue to lose more weight. I have to wait and see.
It's the only negative associated with my surgery....but I live with it and would do it all again. Wouldn't be a show stopper for me!!

Edited to say-----under control with my meds...not an issue. But if I forgot my Rx or ran out I would have a rough day.

Hello!  I had my band removed and got sleeved on 4/19 and have not had any reflux problems.  With the band my reflux was horrid.  I had to sleep sitting up and barfed, slimed and every other reflux related issue - but not once with my new band have I had reflux.  It's been so worth it.  Good luck.

I had reflux issues prior to surgery and I did have really bad reflux in the first few weeks after surgery.  I am on a PPI and it has helped a lot!  I have not been having any reflux issues the past few weeks.  So I think I am on the right medicine.

I've had GERD for years, and pre-op I was on 10mg Prilosec daily or every other day to control it.. right after surgery, several days w/o meds- no issue. Sent home on Nexium... made the switch back to my 10mg Prilosec.. have not had one breakthrough episode yet. So, I'm saying for me- no better, no worse. Hoping as I lose, I may be able to wean off the PPIs eventually.

Before VSG I never had reflux or heartburn or anything like that. After VSG that was the worst thing that happened. I had horrible heartburn. It hurt so bad I could hardly swallow. I was put on Prilosec and it is gradually getting better.

Reflux and heartburn are such personal things.

Age, weight, previous problems all play into it. So does restriction.

I didnt have either before surgery and I don't have either after.
