I misunderstood, and when they said they needed 6 months of doctors supervised but not consecutive, I took that to mean that I did not need 6 visits total. Come to find out yes, I did. I only gave them four. Well, they told me as long as I went to the doctor sometime during that time and actually got weighed it counts. Well, I did- once in March for a Pap, and once in July to get my letter of medical necessity. So I should be covered there...this is totally my fault for not understanding, and it sucks

*BUT* my primary is being stupid and saying it could take up to two weeks to get this sent to the surgeon. I also called to make sure they got my med release (because the other one I sent was supposedly not received), and they said they did not know, and I asked if they could check for me..you know...like actually get up and walk to the fax. Their response, "well we have a certain way things are done here-and that is not it- I will send the lady by the fax a message to call you and let you know if she got it!"

Seriously, why have a job if you do not want to work? Needless to say when this is all over, I Am looking for a new primary too. If nothing else, this whole attempting to get weight loss surgery has made me realize how lazy people are.

I dont know about yall, but when I work, I WORK...I mean I work my butt off (I wish literally)...but I guess that is the price I pay for being a pediatric nurse.

Other than that, when she gets these two papers, then she is submitting. I cannot wait till that day.

Sorry for the trouble.  I too don't get the "why are you bothering me?" approach to customer service.....especially when I have to tell to do their job after they didn't/messed it up!    At least I get to blame my attitude on my age!   "In MY day...."

Keep on them.  It will work out.

What a doc.. cannot believe this. Is it the doc or her assistant/nurse who will not look into this for you?
My Primary was a god-send and her nurse went the xtra mile..so it could happen..if they wanted it to.

How about your surgeon's office sending a letter asking their assistance and help in this matter? A phone call from the surgeon to this doc? What do you think about that?

Again, you hard working nurse..luv them nurses..I KNOW you work hard, I do.

Best to you.. keep us informed hon. IT WILL Happen!! I had glitches all along the way so it took me 9 months to complete the requirements too.

Hugs, Jan

Yea, I finally got my surgeons insurance person to call them. She did that today, and told me she will let me know as soon as she hears something back from the primary.

I started this all in October, so if I get my surgery in October it will be a year of dealing with this mess. I know one day it will all seem worth it, lol!

I'm going through something similar.  My PP told me I needed WLS.  So I start pursuing it and I'm having trouble with the PP!  I/we have talked about my weight, eating, exercising, etc at almost every visit, and when my insurance said I needed 3 months of dr visits, I thought - got that one in the bag.  Well I was wrong.  She didn't put those words in her notes, just that we discussed WLS or that I was having trouble with my weight.  When I asked her to "amend" her notes, she said no and acted like I was asking her to be dishonest.  I couldn't believe it.  She finally wrote a letter stating that we discussed, proper eating, exercise, etc during our visits.  But my surgeon's office doesn't think that my insurance will accept that.  So I'm having to have the 3 months of dr visits and won't be able to have my surgery till October instead of this summer.  I was wanting it this summer so my granddaughter could be here with after the surgery.  In October, I won't have anyone during the week for me.  Oh well, I will just have to deal with it the best I can.   Also, my PP's office is the hardest to get them to fax info to the surgeon.  I will be so glad when I get everything to submit to insurance!

I know how hard you work (I'm a nurse too).  The procedures are so frustrating sometimes.  My brother the firefighter caught me in a moment of frustration about customer service.  He is really good at calming me down.  He sat me down and had me take a deep breath and explained that the rest of the world works differently than our world.  They don't understand our level of accountability.  They've never had somebody waiting for them to give the right meds at the right time or felt the urgency of preparing pain meds quickly, but exactly right, and when they mess up nobody is in danger.  I try to remember this when I get frustrated.  All of that aside, is your surgery at the hospital where you work?  I found hospital e-mail really helpful in dealing with all of the people involved in getting me ready for surgery.  If you can follow up with your needs through e-mail, people can respond when they have a free minute and the work e-mail seemed to help grease some wheels for me, because the staff felt a connection because we are really co-workers.  Good luck, you are getting there!  Every hoop you jump through is getting you closer to your goal, I promise.
