Is oatmeal still a good breakfast food?

I know for "normal" people everyone recommends eating oatmeal for breakfast because it's filling and healthy. I bet it doesn't have a ton of protein, but if your dinner and snacks can meet your requirements for protein, is oatmeal still a good breakfast food post-sleeve?

I've just recently started eating oatmeal again.  'Til now I've stuck to scrambled eggs w/cheese for protein sake.

But now I add a scoop of Tera's Whey Bourbon Vanilla Protein and milk and a tablespoon of Chia Seeds -- all that ups the protein.  And it's extremely yummy.  The Tera's Whey mixes in nicely.

If you are in the weight-loss stage, oatmeal is good as long as you don't stall due to the carbs.  Added protein is a must to make sure you get in your protein requirements.

I'm in maintenance and I do have some oatmeal 1-2 times a week.

I can't have it due to causing me cravings...

My nut recommends steel cut oats, the other ones are processed and turn to mush when you eat them essentially and you don't get as much nutrition out of them.

Since when has oatmeal been a healthy breakfast food?  The "normal" dietary advice is making us all fat.

I'm with you doggz!  My primary explained it this way:  "what do they feed animals to fatten them up?"    Cereals - oats, grains, corn!

Now if you're going to eat Trix or Fruit Loops sure oatmeal is better but not healthy.

Just MHO!  and I love oatmeal!
