i too have been really interested in a mexico dr i was told anywhere from 4500 and up. here is the web site that i have gone too. http://successfullyslimmer.com/Home_Page.html
I went to Dr. Aceves for my VSG and I went with my daughter to Dr. Ramo Kelly. Of the two, I would definitely say Dr. Aceves hands down. Yes he was more expensive but I must tell you that Dr. Kelly had a death on June 3rd. He nicked the girl's artery in surgery and they couldn't stop the bleeding and lost her. It happened while we were there. She was 34 y.o and had a low BMI with no co-morbids. Pay the extra money.
I agree with all of the above posters....do your research!!! Go back and read old posts. Dr. Aceves, Dr. Alvarez, and Dr. Joya have been doing VSG's for a long time with many, many happy patients. This is MAJOR surgery, not the time or place to "price" shop!
Good luck!

Thanks for all the replys with the names of good surgeons in Mexico. I'm VERY early in the research stage. I found out last week that I have a dilated pouch with my lap-band. I'm six years out and haven't had any complications so far. I'm hoping that my pouch will go back to normal and I can tolerate getting a tighter adjusment. If I do have to have a revision I know that I want the sleeve, I just have to figure out where I want it done and who will do it. With my surgeon it will cost around 18,000 to revise from the band to the sleeve (assuming no complications).
I was beginning to research plastics in mexico, so now I will just start researching bariatric surgeons instead lol.
Thanks again,
Amy
