Has anyone ever felt that they've stretched their sleeve?...
Feel like I am not getting full like I should be. Some days I can take two bites of anything and get full... stuffed! Then there's days like today. I felt hungery all day long! Since I was rushedd in everything today because of so many unforseen events that happened... I screwed up and ate ALL of the wrong things. So, tonight on my way home fromm work, I stopped and got a chicken soft taco and expected to only be. Able to consume a few bites. I know I shouldn't have but I finished it and didn't have the full feeling. I am sad and dissappointed because I am screwing up this early in my post op stage... only 9 weeks out! What in the world is wrong with me?
I know exactly what you are going through.. I am 10 months out and there are days that I feel like I could eat all day long.. And then others that two bites of something I have eaten over and over again may make me sick.. To put it in perspective think of how many tacos you used to eat in a sitting.. I do track what I eat almost everyday with myfitnesspal.com and find it useful.. Hang in there you will be just fine..
I too feel that way. I have days when I am sooooo hungry and other days when the smallest thing makes me feel full. I wonder about head hunger on the hungry days and how long it takes me to eat am I eating around my sleeve by taking over an hour to eat or drinking while I eat? What exactly is my frame of mind and how am I feeling at that moment? What time is it in my cycle? Am I PMSing? Try looking at all of if and see if that helps. Sometimes I can pinpoint my problem and other times, I am just hungry or I just can eat more. Like Felicia said, it is still a lot less than I did before the surgery. Trust your sleeve and look for any problems besides the stretching of your sleeve. Good luck and lots of prayers!
Thank you guys. I think I am overwhelmed with thing at home with my 5 children... (6 if you count my husband=)... work and just depressed about my slow weight loss when I have really been dedicated. I don't know! Guess I'm just full of excuses and excusesnare answers to failure. Therefore, I have to just pick myself up and shake all the madness off and get back on track and quit thinking about excuses to why ... huh?! Not waiting for tomorrow to get back on track... I'm back on track now!
I too am 9. 5 weeks out ( 5/25/11) and have noticed for the last week I can eat more somedays and others I can struggle and not even get the minimum protein and fluids. I am glad I am not the only one with this problem. I thought I was doing something wrong. I went from being stuffed on 2 scrambled eggs with fat free cheese to eating that a piece of rye toast and maybe a bite of potatoes ( besides eggs fried foods make me nauseated)
I know right!... I try so har to get my protein in. Every morning I boil several eggs for me ( and the crumb snatchers) to eat on through the day to make sure that I get a good amount of protein in. They're 7 grams of protein and NO CARBS. Anyway, I end up eating only 2 on a good day. Unfortunately, I am a picky eater and there's not a lot I like and/or will try. My weaknesses have been, cookies, cakes, pie, candy, ice cream and breads! My taste buds are used to a very few variety of foods. I've tried other things but can't bring myself to eat other things. WHAT IS I'M GOWNA DO?... :P
As gross as they are I have beenweaning myself off of Isopure protein drinks. 40 grams of protein and 20 oz of fluid no carbs or fat 160 calories. I do whatever I can to get as much fluid and protein I can in a day.. eggs, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, low fat cheese, grilled chicken, wendy's chilli, Ham, and Chicken Soft taco freso at taco bell oh yeah some beans too good protein.
The things you choose to eat will determine your capacity. You really can't stretch your sleeve to any major extent, but you can eat things that slide right through, or that you can chew down to pretty much nothing.
I'm 2 years out, and can eat 1 taco. The funniest thing happens though. When I add any type of bready/carby crap to the meat I eat, I can fit more in. Everyone has different mileage when it comes to food, and types of food that give restriction. The one constant is dense protein items.
The sleeve can only do it's part. The rest is on us to make the "best" choice on what we put in our mouths for us to be successful long term.
