Has anyone had success getting their insurance to cover their pani removal?  Would you mind sharing your timeline info?

I know I am only 3 months out now... I am not trying to ru**** but I just found out I am losing my insurance Jan.1, and changing to a plan that is not going to cover anything reconstructive.  I am hoping that I could have the pani upgraded to a tummy tuck
(out of pocket for the upgrade I know) the end of December.  I would be 8 months out..... anyone have a TT that soon after surgery?

Basically I am wondering what I need to be doing now, besides losing weight and exercising.... like should I have a consult with plastics.... see my PCP to start the documentation needed to get insurance to cover, etc.

Thanks!
Jenn

My mother works with a woman that had a tummy tuck after her RNY(not sure how long after). It was covered by insurance only because she had an abdominal hernia. That's all I know. Hope this helps.

I will find out November. I get the infections and have pictures and my doctor has documented it. He keeps telling my insurance will cover this because it is medically necessary because of the infections. My doctor is having me wait till i am 18 months out. Most doctors have a person wait this long because you are not finished loosing weight till about 18 months out and the tummy tuck will not look good if you keep loosing weight it will hang again.
My surgeon gave me the tool. Now it is up to me to use it right.

I was approved to get a TT about 18 months out from my sleeve (I just went through with it this week- almost three years out, lol). My dr would not do the surgery until I was at a stable, acceptable weight for a year.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Yes, it did. Their requirements for reconstructive surgery are independent of WLS though.
