Things are changing currently in my hospital since the last 6 months I was there in surgery.
Doesnt make it right or wrong...  just different.

" The one thing we can count on in life is change"

Your old school being two years out and very successful!  I applaud you!
sometimes I read things that I dont like,  I just have to bite my tongue.

I am sure my path / journey may not be of interest to others...but it is my path.
Your path is your path.  We just all are trying to do the same thing around here
and that is live a healthier lifestyle.

Hope you overcome letting peoples posts get to you.  I do agree somethings are way
out there.

I strongly suggest you continue as you do reaching out to the newbies or make posts
so we all can continue learn from you.

Cheers

Edit:
PS:  97% I am happy with my journey...  its the 3% that drives me bananas!!!!
The sleeve is just a tool I remind myself and that my head still needs fixing.
That is why I go and enjoy all the therapy and support groups I attend.
Every day i am healing and every day I become more proud of myself.

I agree!! and I haven't even been on this site as long as you & some others

... especially agree with points 1 & 4. Half the posts are like "i haven't lost weight in 3 weeks waaaahh" I'm like seriously? can you read??

and also when someone asks a question and everyone just posts random replies that don't even answer the question i'm like what just happened here?

Hmmm.... for some reason OH won't let me update..... I left out a few more pretty important points.

- People who eat fixed/measured amounts of food do better.
- People who track their food intake do better. (not saying you need a high tech tracking software...pencil and paper works just fine.
- People who eat till there full.... have the most problems and do the worst both in weight loss and maintaing a stable weight.

Sorry for the disconnect here!

Count me in as the pen & paper tracker.. DH bought me a Spanish Nightmare before Xmas binder - "El Extrano Mundo de Jack" while down in MX! It was the ONLY thing he found at the mall that he thought I'd get a kick out of.. been using it ever since. I can look back and see what I ate (drank!) on day 5.

& yes, I agree with all your points.. I also want to add one if I may even if I am a newbie:

People who take the time to read, research and read some more tend to struggle less with panic and do better..

I lurked on this forum and a couple others for weeks before posting.. I read everything I could get my hands on. I read so many studies on obesity, surgeries, books on the subjects, videos, nutrition.. all before getting cut. Sometimes I think people that have a surgeon with a support plan actually do less study themselves as they rely too much on what someone tells them.. and when you encounter the nutty NUTs or the mis-information from surgeons (hey, they aren't infallible) they buy into it without any critical thinking..

I totally agree!
For me the turning point was when I narrowed it down to a small group of OH vets that truly had their **** together and I knew I wanted to learn specifically from them. Now when someone asks me for advice I point them to the LAPSF manual. It just doesn't get much more comprehensive & at the same time concise (dietguidevged42006feb.pdf - Google it!)
Thanks Frisco... Craig

Thanks for this post Frisco.  I have digested a ton of useful information from you and the other VSG vets here and will put it to good use when the time comes.

I totally agree!!!
I mean I posted questions when I first started, Im sure we all do. I don't wanna be a meanie about that part. I still try to answer questions cause it really helped me formulate my plan but I am amazed at how much some post-ops don't know and I am sure that has a lot to do with inexperienced surgeons. Im sure for a lot of people, its about insurance. I used my insurance and went with who I was referred to as I could not pay out of pocket. I was lucky to be referred to a Dr who had done hundreds of VSGs some seem to get the short end of the stick there. I saw people who were successful and tried to use their practices and tricks along with my Drs plan. I am amazed by some eating plans or the idea that WLS can fix an eating disorder. I was told that was why I had to meet that therapist, WLS can not fix your head and that had to be fixed before my Dr. would touch me if it was found that was an issue. Why would a Dr. not work on that before setting someone up to either fail or struggle like that? I don't know. But ya, if you do what your told the weight will come off. If you find your Dr. is telling you something that A.) doesnt make any ******g sense or B.) is not working find a support group or talk to some folks on here who have had great supportive, educated doctors and ask them what worked for them.
I say you're right on Frisky… you wise lil fellow.
Research research research, know what your getting yourself into babies…. we luff you...

And as you can see… these panties are not in a ruffle… but they are ruffled mother ******!!!!
