soft food stage suggestions?

My husband and I started the "soft food" stage today. Our list of soft food choices was very limited. I don't much care but my husband is reaching for anything and everything. It's like a dam burst!
He doesn't have any pain or discomfort with any of the foods he ate today but he didn't eat much of any of them.
What are some of the choices I can give him at this point?

thanks,
Donna

I start my mushy food stage tomorrow and I'm super pumped! This is a good resource! http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ She has a search bar at the top and you can put in "soft foods". She has a recipe for "ricotta bake" that looks great, too. Hope that helps you some!

Are you looking for recipes?  Can you tell me a little more about what what your limited choices are on soft foods?

My pureed stage (I'm on it now)is before soft foods, but includes things like scrambled eggs, soft-boiled eggs, soft cheese, low fat cottage cheese, and baby food.  I've gone to eggface's blog for inspiration ( http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/pureed-foods.html ) and gotten creative on my own...pureed vegetarian chili with a dolop of Greek yogurt on top (like sour cream), for example.  Today I went to Super Target and discovered all sorts of goodies like Indian sauces that I can heat and puree with chicken or fish, assorted dipping mixes that I can put in Greek yogurt, fat free refried beans to eat with melted cheese...I could go on...

Usually your surgeon will give you a list of foods that you need to follow. My surgeon say's no meats even if in chili as it's hard for your newly operated tummy to break meat down. I ate a lot of eggs and greek yogurt. Good luck =)

I am on soft/pureed food now. I have been eating scrambled eggs with cheese melted on top; pureed turkey taco meet (think of it as dip but no chips) canned tuna and chicken with light mayo.  Other options are low fat soups (pureed); refried beans with melted cheese; low fat cheese sticks cut into small cubes.

My surgeon actually recommended the tuna and chicken because I've been hungry. He said the meats will stay with me longer, which they do.

I am a big fan of that website, too. She lists a lot of great puree and post puree ideas and recipes. I went shopping yesterday for the first time in two months (I'm delayed because I had a leak) and I shopped for a lot on her list.

Good luck! (I start purees on Monday!)

I remembered making a chicken roast in the oven with fresh veggies stuff  like bell pepper, zuccini, potato, onion, carrots, mushrooms and I took my immersion blender
out and whiped up the whole thing. Sounds gross but it was heaven. I ate it for a week.
I only did that once. I was 6 weeks out.    I wasnt even sure if I was suppose to have it...but I did.
It was yummy.

Like I said, I did it once and ate it for a week.

This is what the list says:
oatmeal, toast, crackers, tuna, mashed potatoes, puree vegetables, lowfat cottage cheese, apple sauce.
We've got two weeks of this.
It says to eat a couple tablespoons a day of this and drink clear liquids 48 - 64 ounces.

We are only 21 days after surgery.

I'm going to make some of those meals on the suggested web site because if I don't I think my husband will eat what he shouldn't. At least this way he will be eating something closer to what he should.

I still have no appetite so anything will work.

I did send an email to the surgeon for better clarification.

I appreciate your help.

I cant wait till we get to the point where I don't have to worry about him injuring himself, (sigh).
