Overwhelming Macy's shopping experience....
I donated $5 to something and got a 25% off certificate for Macy's all day today. So I decided that with my NEW JOB starting on Monday; it was a good day to go to Macy's (for the first time in a year, for clothes.)
I've bought clothes at Walmart since shrinking out of Womens sizes. I can wear a misses 16 now. (A year ago, I was in 28 womens)
We live in a smallish town, and the Macy's is only one story. I don't know what I would have done if it were a bigger one. I literally stood there, and didn't know where to go. I found myself at the old lady clothes. (ok, I'm 55 years old.....) they looked familiar from the women's section. So I tried some on for size. The 16's fit, but they were....just wrong. I kept going out there and bringing back clothes.....but it wasn't working. Finally, as I had the dressing room door open, a sales girl came in and was collecting clothes...she looked at me in my pants that were sagging at the crotch, and said "try petites" Petites ? Could I be petite ?
I had my doubts, but having no success with the huge armload of clothing that I had hauled in with me, I walked over there....I put on a 16 petite pant and it fit ! No hemming needed. Crotch fits where it's supposed to. Petite XL shirts all fit, and they aren't too long, and they fit my shoulders, not hanging down.....
Now, I know that I've shrunk. I used to be 5'3 and a bit, and now I'm 5'2" and I weighed 192.4 this morning.
HOLY **** !!! I'M PETITE !!!!

I have been a fan of Macy's through my weight loss. I've stalked the clearance racks there, and since I have a Macy's credit card, I get extra discounts. So I deliberately bought sizes lower than what I was fitting in at fabuous buys--an average of $6-$8 per item.
Eventually I've worn everything I bought there except one pair of pants that were a size 8. I forgot I had them, and I was in a size 6 before I realized it.
You'll really start enjoying clothes now that you are in the normal range of sizes. Have fun!

Oh, but you will enjoy it more. I'm not saying plus sizes are unfashionable because I always made sure to dress nice. In my experience, once I hit about a size 12, it's a whole different experience.
For example, in plus sizes it was a real job to find slacks that fit right. They would often be bigger or smaller than my waist, butt, or thighes. Now I put on a pair of slacks, and like 4 out of 5 pairs fit perfectly in proportion. Also there are bunches more of stores to shop at. There's lots more to choose from.
I've threatened to use our whole tax return to shop for clothes when I hit goal. I remember a couple of years ago being in Macy's around Christmas time and seeing all the hot dresses for New Years Eve that I couldn't fit into. This year I'm going to get one of those hot dresses even if I have nowhere to wear it.
I'll wait to spend big bucks till I'm sure my weight is stable, but I'll wear the plastic out when I let loose.

The first half of my life was a clothing nightmare. Plus size shops and a new attitude somewhere around the early 90's made my life so much better. LOL But, yes, I can just imagine the freedom to shop anywhere, and not have to go to the one or two stores where I can find things that fit. I live in a big city and it's tough enough. Make that NYE dress RED, and rock it!! And make plans to have somewhere to go to be seen. You've earned it.
Sorry if this sounds salesy - I work too much... but just so you know - you can return things up to 6 months after you buy them, even without a receipt. Sometimes it's even longer if you paid with your macy's card. As long as it's got the tag on it. So you could maybe get your money back for your forgotten pants and get some your size! :P
