OK...... my turn to vent....everybody seems to be doing it.....

Is it just me????

Or is there a whole new crop of new peeps having surgery that are not educated/prepared/ready.....

Seems like lots of "less than smart" behaviors going on......either surgeons not doing there job with instructions or patients not absorbing basics ????

Seems like a lot of people relying on the performance of the VSG and a whole lotta luck!!!!

Just tellin it like I see it......

Flame on !!!

No you are not wrong.  It seems like that to me too, it has been in the last few months that I have noticed that.  I think if people rely strictly on the sleeve for their success they will not achieve it.  It is just a tool and one that was very hard to get approved for many of us.  To abuse it is crazy but people will be people and there are always the few that expects the most and trys the least.

Frisco,

Are you suggesting it is not ok to eat popcorn, drink soda and guzzle wine three weeks post-op?

Hey George,

Chicken Wings is my favorite !!!!!

And yah..... Big popcorn movement going on !!!!

The other thing is..... why do people think their cravings are more powerful than everyone elses????

We were all Dorito eatin fat people..... How the hell am I supposed to be symithatic to someone who says they are addicted to carbs......ah.....90+% of us were addicted to sugars of some sort...what makes them think there addiction is stronger than everyone elses.....sure there is gonna be some that are.....but how do you know if it's just different degrees of commitment ?

Frisco,

I completely agree.

Just yesterday I walked down the chip isle at the grocery store and noticed Doritos were on sale. I wa**** with a strong desire to buy the Doritos, at 2 years post-op I know I could eat some without much of a problem. At 2 years post-op I also know that eating carbs is a slippery slope leading to more carb cravings. I also know that I feel junky after eating carbs and that I made a commitment to eat better and keep carbs at less thaqn 40 grams per day.

Success with the VSG has a lot to do with commitment to the process, following your doctors plan and changing bad habits.

I agree... Frisco's posts always have common sense..you know, i think that this surgery does have a lot of common sense.. of course if you are drinking soda and eating dorritos and fatty carbs, it will keep you from losing...common sense is like frisco says we all had carb and eating problems which is why we all decided to have the surgery... I just came off of a stall, and technically it was my first one I had at 4 months post op.  it lasted about 3 weeks.. i was extremely discouraged but at the same time hopeful because I read and researched all i can from OH.  I was waiting for the 3 weeks stall, or the 7 week one... but i guess my body was okay without the stall.. Anyway, I am just glad i am losing again.
Now that i am 80+ pounds down, i have everyone and their mother asking me about the surgery..but i am finding that if i say go on OH or research, or start learning about the surgery because it is not my decision to make for you,  these same people kind of shrug me off.  Only my one cousin has gone through the steps and now has a surgery date.  But it kind of urks me because i spent so much time learning and doing this on my own.  I just feel it is unfair that i worked and am continuing to work towards my goal, and others just want the solution without solving the problem.

Well, there's someone wondering when to start eating popcorn and pizza. I haven't had any yet. I'm not perfect but I sure have tried my best to stay off that slippery slope. I hope the links I've shared to Dr. Sharma's blog may help with some of the behaviors we see. Oh, probably not.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
