I had my surgery 3 days ago.
I was told to drink 64 oz. water/crystal light etc.
and 4 protein drinks or soups daily.
(protein soups purchased via my surgeons office).
No dairy products, nothing else.
I was wondering to switch it up a little can you use unsweetened almond,
soy or coconut milks in your protein shakes?

I did, I use almond soy milk in my protein drink, but that was after my clear liquid diet, which I did for 10 days. I had my surgery 8/05/11, and I have not felt sick at all, but I make sure I follow my doctors recommendations, step by steps. Yes at times I thought I was going to go crazy, but I feel better now. You'll survive. Good Luck!!

I would follow the instructions exactly.  It seems wierd to worry about little deviations at first but I think it is really good practice to re-train the way you think about food and eat.  Plus, your new tummy is super sensitive to anything new for a good while.

Hi, your surgeon is at the same place mine is. I just had my 2 week visit, and it is only now that I can use some milk. It kinda stinks, but those 2 weeks go by kinda quick!! Good luck!
