Hi everyone,

A little over a week ago I posted about the issues I was having post op. You were all so supportive and I appriciate it. I just wanted to let you know what had happened. I ended up getting an even higher fever and went in for a CAT scan. I found out there was a walnut sized absess and they couldn't tell if my stomach was leaking or not. They admitted me that night and over night my fever spiked over 103 and I nearly went into shock according to the nurse. Of course they wouldn't let me eat or drink anything and being labor day weekend my doctor was off. I ended up not having anytype of nutriton for 5 days. On Tuesday they did an upper GI and found out I did have a leak. They put in a pick line and started giving my IV nutrition. On Thursday a Gastrologist did a procedure that will hopefully drain all the fluid thats collected and hopefully I will not need another surgery. I am still experiencing some pain and am very frustrated. I guess leaks are very uncommon and I'm so upset and think I made a huge mistake. If you asked me today I wouldn't have had the sleeve but hopefully after everything heals and I'm feeling better I won't regret my decision. Thanks everyone for your concerns and prayers.

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this. I'm praying for you to have a speedy recovery and that this will end up just be a small speedbump as you move towards a healthier life.

(((hugs)))... I am SO sorry you're going through this! So glad you were seen and treated (before you became septic, spent weeks/mos ICU... or worse!)

I know there are several regular posters/veterans that had long, complicated recoveries/leaks... I think USAF Wife and karlij both had a leak, there are more.

Maybe you can search for other leak survivors and find support/encouragement from those who've been there? Just a thought.

Sending prayers your way.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have had such a bad experience with your sleeve.  Hopefully the worst is behind you and the best is yet to come.

BTW, you and I have the same surgery date.
Get in the COURAGE LANE ... There is hardly any traffic in that lane!

I'm very sorry to hear you are experiencing complications. From one who endured, survived a major leak, leak repair to another, I promise the struggles are so worth it in the end. I had a very extensive recovery, over 3 months long, a 2nd hospitalization after my leak repair with the revision, and to this very day, I would seriously endure every struggle/obstacle to live the life I have at over 2 years out.

I'll keep you in my thoughts during this very difficult time!

Hey Tabb,

I literally can say, I know how you feel. The doctors first attempt on my abscesses were radionuclide imaging procedures while draining the abscesses. It didn't really work for ME!..I got more back. Hopefully that the procedure they did on you worked. Do they have JP drains in place?.. Keep in touch if you have an other concerns...Am a open book for leak questions.

Hugs

Ya ask any one of the hundreds of peeps Ive seen w/ leaks here within the first couplea months...
majority say they REGRET having the sleeve. Ask em within a year later....VSG is the BEST THING that happened to them despite it.

...even tho this is a MAJOR speed bump in gettin on with yer life, once repaired....it'll become a DISTANT memory...as it should be. Everyone goes on to rock their sleeve,  learn laugh love live. There are peeps that HAD a leak... with super spirits like NovaScotia, USAF wife, and StacieP
