What do you like, what do you hate?

I need something light weight b/c I want to eventually get back to running (my goal is to be ready to do a 5k by the time next summer rolls around). So a good running shoe, that has good arch support.

Oh, and I will NOT wear NIKE, so anything but those (I will not buy anything they make since they signed Michale Vick).

I've been a New Balance girl for many years. LOVE. I'm wearing the 623's now. They go up a number each year, I think. Anyway... the whole line is fab.

If you plan to do running, you need to either go to a good specialty shoe store wear they can properly measure your feet or use one of the online helpers....I personally like Asics...but there are many different ones for different foot types and weight distrobution types....a good running shoe store with knowledgable fitment staff can get the correct one you need, and they very likely may be different soles for each feet. I've yet to spend better money than when I got my running shoes fitted properly....the shoes were about $130 but they were worth every penny....

roadrunnersports.com has a good shoe fitment tool...their prices seemed high though so maybe use their tool then search to find the shoes cheaper....

I have to second this.  Go to a specialty store.  Will you pay more $?  Yes, but it is so worth it.  They will watch you walk and run both flat footed and with shoes and will makes sure you get the best shoe for you!  Expect to pay $100+ but really you only need to do it once, then you'll know and can shop around for a better deal next time.

I love the addiction line of running shoes by Brooks  they come in different widths.  I got my first pair at a store for runners.  My sister is a real runner and wears them too.  I have a work pair (I'm a nurse) and a walking pair for outside .of work
putting one foot in front of the other...

Amen Sister for not supporting NIKE because of the dog abuser Mike Vick !!!  I don't have much to say about tennis shoes though...lol

Ditto re: Sick Vick!  My husband is from Philly, and he won't support the Eagles anymore, either.

I wear New Balance, but I recommend getting a fitting at a specialty store.  I did that, and ended up with a Boys running shoe, actually. The good news is they cost $19.99 at Sports Authority.

Zappos! you can buy as many as you want, in a few sizes.. try them on for days to make sure you like them, and return the rest for free on a paid shipping label! They have clothes and accessories now, that's a dangerous thing for me..

With that said, I tried several top brands, and ended up in Saucony again.. they work best for my feets!
