You are welcome girlie. If I come across more similar threads, I will link them here too.  I think it helps to see how other folks went through the process.

But then too - like Laura is a little taller than me, but is lovely and not skurry skinny like I would be at 135.  I would be - way skurry kinny and veiny and not pretty, and someone else.. is like 130 or 125, and she looks lovely too!  So, sometimes a preconceived size or weight, or even a former size or weight just looks way different on our now bodies!

Its definitely a random and strange thing!  :}  And so much better than wondering.. "who the hell carries the size I need NOW?" while you are heading up the scale.  :{

Okay!  some links and now I will bookmark  this thread!  :}

 Thanks.  I did search first but "goal weight" was way too broad and when I got more specific there was nothing.  It's nice to have all those in one place though!

Welcome!  Yes this software stinks for searching, here is how I do it in case it helps for something else for you

In google, not the address bar, but the search space (you could bing it too, I bet, but I just use google)

goal weight site:http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/vsg/

That got me a bunch of hits, but I use the one I use to search for my posts (since I have lost my "personalities" a few times) so if you just tuck that above thing into google, you will pull up some that my initial search did not find!  I might search them later and tuck them in here, for future pointing people towards, if you do not!  :}

 I picked 180 b/c that is where I was most comfortable, but now as I get closer to it I see that I can go lower and look better, so I dropped it to 160. I won't cry if I never see 160, but I am going to try my damnedest to get there LOL

I picked 180 because I thought that I remembered being that weight and being really skinny and honestly I never thought I would actually be able to make it there.  Well I did make it and decided 160 sounds like a good number.  We will see how I look and feel when I get there.  I am at 175 now, 15 more pounds to go!

My goal has been set based upon body composition, seeking to get to a 15% body fat level - on the lean side of "normal" for men. First cut estimate was 200lb based on the admittedly gross assumption that only fat would be lost with adjustments to be made as I got closer to that point. Revisiting the numbers a month or so ago indicated that 190 was closer the appropriate weight point and that still seems to be holding as the lean mass has been stable since then. That would still be "overweight" on a BMI basis (27ish) but this is about health and not population norms on a chart. I'll re-evaluate it again when I get there and see how things feel - they are just numbers, after all (and the body comp numbers can be a bit flaky for us recovered fatties.)

I picked 155 only because A. I saw it once, and though I had a little more to lose, I was looking good (down from 308lbs, I looked great!). It was the lowest weight I'd ever seen on my adult frame..

and B. It puts me in the normal BMI range, on the high end... I'd be happy to get there, or close again as the excess skin will let me.. as I would be to get lower towards the 140's.. but for me, this is and has always been about health.. so the closer I get, I plan to get my butt to a Bodpod and get a good clue on my fat/lean, then play with it from there, but I have a ways to go before I need to worry about body comp.
