so i'm 6 weeks out...i lost 46 pounds in the first 4 weeks. but since last monday, i have weighed the SAME DANG THING! if i see 295 on the scale another day, im gonna scream! why am i not losing? i did start on a birth control patch 2 weeks ago. and i started working out 2 weeks ago. i know im losing cause i have lost 3 inches off my waist in the last 2 weeks. but the scale is still NOT moving! idk why i let the scale control my moods. ive been in a bad mood all day too. ive been so moody the last couple weeks. i had to eat out on the go the other day. swung by sonic and got a 2 piece chicken tender meal. gave the tots to a friend and only ate 1 tender and felt full. then i all of a sudden felt sick and threw up! not sure why...
another thing is, the last couple weeks is have been SOOOO tired! im sleeping plenty. 10+ hours a night. and yet i wake up tired, and ihave that dazed feeling all day. i just wanna get in bed and sleep all day. i get a little more energy around dinner time then i crash. im 6 weeks out. i should have my energy back by now. i just feel like a mess. i feel like im failing because i havent lost more weight. im blaming myself. my broken foot is not healing and i dont wanna have surgery on it. ill know more in 2 weeks. someone please give me advice. i dont wanna be that 1 person who dont lose much weight.

Stalls are normal.  If you're losing inches, the weight will follow.  Plus now that you're working out you're going to start gaining muscle.  Just keep going and make sure you're working your tool and you'll be fine.  (in 3 weeks when I'm wondering the same thing, can you remind me of this advice? LOL)  Are you using a food journal?  It might help to do that, track both everything that you eat and everything you drink.
The tired thing could be from the exercise (sometimes it takes a while to get the energy up from exercise).  Are you taking your vitamins still?  Are you getting enough protein?

Every so often the body takes time to re-adjust. It's hard when you have WLS and become a slave to the scale. Try not to let it get to you. There are other ways of judging success too, measurements, coming off meds for comorbidities, being able to do things you couldn't do before or just feeling better in general.

It's possible that your birth control may have an effect. Some of the "other" ingredients in pharmaceuticals contain sodium. Even over the counter items can be a deterrent. I had switched vitamin brands and was retaining water like crazy. I gained nearly 5 lbs in 2 weeks(all in my ankles/feet). Once I realized what my problem was and switched back to my old brand, the water went away.

Hang in there. Stick to your program. Log your food so you aren't going over your requirements. You'll get there!

Since you're losing inches, it's not a stall.

You just started a hormonal bc which some women have shared slowed down or stalled their weight loss. It was a hot topic around here a couple of months ago. Plus, your moods are directly related to hormones. Estrogen is stored in our excess fat. When we lose rapidly, it's all dumped into our system and now you've added more hormones by going on bc. I'm not saying it's all the birth control's fault. I would venture to guess about 90% of girls were cranky, mood swingy and overall just *****y in the rapid weight loss phase because of the hormone flux. It's pretty par for the course you're on right now.

The chicken tender was probably a result of eating until feeling full, and  if it was your first fried food after surgery, your body probably just didn't like it. Kind of like throwing cheap gas into your car after feeding it Premium gasoline for a few fill ups.

Sounds like your body is just readjusting, and technically still recovering. Not everyone gets their energy back that soon. You didn't mention if you are getting in all of your protein, clear fluids and vitamins so it's a little hard to give advice on this one. But, it's not out of the ordinary for your body to need sleep, it's been through hell, and stressing over the scale isn't helping by any means.

And just for ****s and giggles, in a mere 6 weeks since surgery, you have ALREADY lost 27% of your excess weight by your signature from highest weight of 341lb with a 46lb loss. So, celebrate what you have accomplished thus far, and keep following your program. If you are not getting the results you want, reevaluate what and how much you are eating/drinking and see where you can make changes.

thanks USAFwife. im not counting my protein intake or calorie intake. but im eating lots of meats and cheeses so im wrong for assuming im gettin in all of my protein. should i stop my bc if its causing me to retain/gain weight? i know ive lost a lot so far. almost 50lbs in 6 weeks. but i still feel like i should be doing better than that. im taking my vitamins and drinking water.

I'm not one for guestimating on what we consume especially early out. I am not a med professional so I wouldn't tell anyone to stop a medication, but wanted to let you know it 'could' contribute to your moods, lethargy and weight loss.

It could just be a readjustment period. I think it's best to remember, we didn't get fat overnight, don't expect to get skinny overnight. This is a process, and there is no reason to expect more than what you've already accomplished. Can you remember a past diet attempt when you've dropped 50lbs in 6 weeks???

I'm still pre op, but i have read alot on here and i cant tell you per the vets its normal for the scale to stop sometimes. But think about it. Could you have lost 46 lbs in a month before??  do you know how long it would take me to loose that much weight w/o surgery prolly like 5-6 months. now some though love.... You cant become a grouch everytime the scale doesn't move, I'm sure its frustrating to you, but its not fair to the ppl around you. The more grouchy the less u are going to want to work out or watch ur food. U cant rant and rave EVERYTIME u have a down week. In your case this isn't even a down week if your loosing inches!!! so you need to re adjust you thinking and just be happy that your healthy, your loosing, looking better, and your on your way to a better you. Be positive! it will help you in the long run. Hope everything starts moving soon, but if it doesn't just keep doing your best.

God grant me with the serenity to accept the things i cannot change ;  Courage to change the things that i can ;  and the wisdom to know the difference!!!

My wife was very sensitive to homones in BC, we found the IUD was the absolute best for her.
