This just isn't right.....
So I am a little over three weeks out from surgury. My first week was ofcourse only clear liquids for the first week. Then the last two weeks has been liquids only. I have been doing tomato soups, my protein drinks, low cal gatorade etc. Very strict. When I had my soup I would put my bowl on my scale, zero it out and add about 4 OZ or half a cup of soup. Never had an issue getting that down. Ever. Even felt like I could have more. My protein shakes would be 6-8 oz. I had no issue getting that done. So one of my favorite things is Wendy's chilli. Love it. So I was excited to get some my my puree. We went and bought three large ones so I have some for a few days. I came home and blended two of them to an apple sauce like consistency. I knew to eat slow and man it tasted so good. But then something strange. Very strange. Something that I had never ever felt before. I was eating my wonderful chilli that I measured 4 oz like my soups. After about 2 oz which I spread over 15 minutes...My stomach started that full feeling. I knew to stop so I would not hurt. Only 2 oz!!! Seriuosly? How can I have 4 oz of tomato soup without issue, but 2 oz of the thicker chilli and I am done and feel like I ate a whole pizza. I am both surprised and kind of happy/interested in what this was like. Shocked I guess at this feeling. My wife and I used to joke that we would hurt after I would eat a whole large pizza. But 2 oz of pureed chilli! I guess I got what I paid for. A small sleeve. Just didn't think that something thicker would make this huge difference. I had never felt this kind of a trigger to stop before. A seriously new strange feeling. I so wanted to keep going but after reading a lot of these posts I knew there was a line you don't cross otherwise your in serious trouble. Glad I listened to my stomach. Glad to finally meet him. We really had communicated before like this.....
Does it get better?? with time I hope?

Yes you will be able to eat more over time. Remember that your tummy can be inflamed from the surgery for up to 6 months afterwards. This will ultimately help you in losing weight quicker in that "golden" period of time. Take advantage of it, and don't press your limits.
You'll probably also find that you can eat more on some days than others. I still find that happening to me. I thinking that the chili is a bit more dense that the other things you've been eating. Liquids tend to go down easier.

i'm so glad you posted this! i realized the same thing yesterday and today!!!! it is very strange, isn't it? i feel like i ate a thanksgiving meal after 1 oz. of pureed chicken. i guess that's what they mean when they say head hunger. my head still tells me it wants food but my stomach is like "no way man".
Like everyone else said....chili is a denser protein. Wendy's chili is one of my go to foods for lunch during the week. I am 8 months out and I can only eat 1/2 of a small. Some weeks I will buy 2 small chilis at the beginning of the week and that will just about cover lunch for the workweek. My pocketbook is loving it! We are all different and have different size sleeves. The amount you can eat will also vary from one day to the next......some days you may be able to eat a certain amount and the next you may only be able to eat half of what you ate the previous day. It is all a learning experience. Enjoy the ride!
