Honestly, idk.
I never even asked what size my sleeve would be. I do remember my surgeon mentioning in the info meeting at some point that it would be the size of a hot dog... The first doc I consulted with said "your stomach will go from the size of a football to a banana" - I definitely think there's a difference between a banana and a hot dog. I guess it didn't matter to me on what size it actually was!

Bougie size differs from doc to doc, each has a preference. usually ranging from 32-42..though they say the smaller the better..mine is a 38 because thats what my doc preferred.

Just ask your surgeon what size bougie he uses. I think the majority of us here have a 32 french bougie, but a number of doctors use a little bit larger. Honestly, unless one gets above 40, it isn't going to make any difference -- just a tiny bit of extra room that you wouldn't even notice.
Your surgeon will have a standard size that he uses, because his judgment is that that size works the best with the fewest complications. You do not have to tell him what size you want. If he says anything under 32 or over 40, I would have some concerns. Otherwise, don't worry about it :-)
Best wishes!
