Halloween is kicking my ass
Okay so I'm still pre-op. I've been doing really well and while my scale only shows a 15lb loss my NUTs says I'm at 20!! Well I've fallen off the wagon hard core since Friday. Friday I hosted a huge Halloween party (think 70+ people). I was so busy that by the time I could stop to eat there were cupcakes left. That was it. What did I do? I ate them, 3 of them! It's only been down hill from then, the kids came home Monday with over 5lbs of candy!!!!! 5lbs! I try to resist but they just call to me. I had them put it in their rooms but I still go in there and sneak a piece. It's not my kids fault they have an adict mom but I'm about ready to kick it all out of the house because I just can't say no. I've been doing so good for over 8 months and I have just blown it. I don't want to go back to my old ways but I'm finding it extremely difficult to get back to square one.
Help and a swift kick in the arse is needed. Saturday is my daughters birthday (more cake and goodies) then the next weekend is my husbands (rinse repeat) then Thanksgiving!!! I feel like I just need to put myself in a hole.

I wouldn't be able to have that stuff in the house.. can the kids take it to school and stick it in their lockers (not sure how old they are??) Someone here made a deal with their kids to trade in candy for $$ to spend at a toy store.. maybe try that, then destroy or give away the candy..
As far as the next kiddie party, make sure you send folks home with any leftover cake, destroy the rest (not by eating it! haha!) Pour salt or ketsup over any of it and tra**** or better yet- make just enough for that night!
Husbands.. do they really need cake & goodies? Lol.. gotta be another way to celebrate a bday.. little kids, yeah- cupcakes/cakes are kinda mandatory. Tday, well- stuff yourself silly on the bird. Try to avoid the pie.
It's hard pre-op, really. If we didn't need the helping hand of the VSG, we wouldn't be struggling pre-op! You can do this, but get the goodies out of the house.. Not worth it.
Edited to add: You didn't blow "it".. "It" is the rest of your life.. you didn't make the best food choices for a few days, but this is not an all or nothing, deviate and fail entirely kinda deal here.. so try to get that type of thought out of your head, it'll make it easier in the long run!

I understand how you are feeling. I have lost 6lbs since starting (since last Friday) my plan from the NUT and boom there is Halloween...I have six kids, so you can imagine how much candy is in my house. I have actually had the kids put it in their rooms as well. I have only had a twizzler and one roll of smarties but the thought of the candy being in here is driving me crazy. I have found that greek yogurt with fruit or yoplait lite fruit yogurt helps when I want something sweet. Sorry I can't be more help!
Let your kids pick out their favorite candy - limit the amount - and throw the rest away. You won't be hurting them any. I like the idea of giving them a gift card or some $$$ for their candy!
Make sure you make time to eat before your daughter's party, then pitch everything that's leftover into the trash or send it home with the guests.
Thanksgiving, fill up on turkey and veggies and leave little room for sweets. Pitch anything that "calls" to you in the trash or send many leftovers home with others. Nothing like some good to-go plates to get rid of excess!

So hard, but you know what you need to do. We all have slips, even after surgery, but what you do is stand back up, realize why you started this path in the first place (still got your "fattest picture" ever? or think of your kids growing up and walking down the aisle without Mom!) , dust yourself off and get back on the wagon.
Ask your WLS team to suggest a good counselor familiar with eating disorders. You've heard it before and it's true, the surgery doesn't fix our heads. We have to do that, and the best time is before the surgery, not after.
Short term suggestions: grab a yogurt, grab a no carb sweet drink or Jello, brush your teeth and have a huge glass of water (both work really well, I promise!) and keep on sharing here! You aren't in this alone, and I know that helps me keep on keeping on!
Best wishes.

I do have a counselor (I see her tomorrow). This is certainly not a new problem I just don't normally have to maintain a weight loss in order to get surgery!

Glad you've got some local support. It can really make the difference when it comes to the games our heads play with us. Love the bartering idea. How about special trips instead of cash or toys? Sharing a movie, waterpark, picking a hiking destination or which friends to take camping are fun experiences.
Best wishes to you and the kids.
I know you're on a base. Someone here posted that they were doing drives for leftover Halloween candy to send to the soldiers overseas. Maybe you can have you kids pick out some pieces and then have them donate the rest for the soldiers. might be good for them. Put in Halloween in the search engine and you'll find out who posted it. Good luck.
Wow...I hear you!! Sweets was truly one of the main (if not the main) culprits that got me to where I was before being sleeved!!!
I love what Jo posted...I have not heard of that, but when my almost 11 yr. old gets home from guitar practice-I will be bartering with the gift card/toy store idea, that is awesome!!! (My bartering means Mom's pretty persuasive)
Lol
My 2 yr. old isn't the issue, she loves candy but it is truly not good for either of them and although I have not indulged....I hate that there is so much candy inside my "sleeved" home just waiting for me to cave!!!! :)
So I wish you the best and don't wait to start over-start new right now-not tomorrow! You CAN do this!!
