How long?
Just wondering how long you all had your staples in and did it hurt when they took them out? Btw thanks for all you who warned about the drain. That was painful n horrible when they removed it. Never want to go through that again. Nervous about them removing staples.

No staples and no drain. I have a 1" incision hidden in my belly button, and one one my left side below my ribs. I have 3 others but they are only about 1/4" and already not very visible.
Seems like there are so many different techniques, plans, etc with this surgery. My MD does the drain with the RNY but not with the sleeve. Also didnt have to do a leak test in the hospital - again only done with RNY.
Although i have not experienced it I would imagine the drain removal would hurt more than the staples. Hope it goes well!

It's good you had the drain. It is the best and earliest indicator of a leak. Yeah it doesn't feel good but early detection is best. And even the best of surgeons get leaks. All of them have had them at some point. It is better to air on the cautious side than to have a leak be there a couple of days and make you deathly sick and end up in icu for becoming septic. I didn't have staples either used liquid bandaid glue. Only had staples in the pouch and they stay. Had staples with gallbladder surgery few years back and didnt hurt when they removed them. The drain removal will be the worse.
