birth control question for all the ladies... tmi?
I use the IUD----Its in there for 5 years, don't have to worry about it at all. But it can be taken out earler if I want to get pregnant before then.

My husband and I opted out of children by choice years ago... so we were always searching for the best (and non hormonal).. I had an IUD, and I would highly recommend looking into it. There are non-hormonal ones out there, and if your uterus tolerates them, they are fantastic.
I hate condoms too. We got sterilized 10 years ago, so no need for anything.. but I tried the diaphragm (messy, inconvenient and uncomfortable).. condoms/spermicide, pill (hated it), and finally IUD. Unfortunately, I was one of the few that it caused pretty bad cramping.. had it for a year and finally decided to do something permanent and got it removed.. but I know plenty of others that had it without issue.

thanks everyone... i've thought about depo provera and mirena etc... but it freaks me out that i wouldn't get a period. with my luck it would fail and i'd be pregnant months before i figured it out. however, the progesterone only pill sounds pretty interesting to me. i was on so much estrogen during the fertility treatments that i'd rather not put extra into my body (increased risk of many cancers) so i may look into that and the nuvaring (although i'm kind of skeeved out about putting something in and taking it out again. i'd probably lose the damn thing lol).
I have the mirena IUD, it has a low dose of hormone that is very centrally located. It has low side effects, it stays in for 5 yrs. I am on my second one now. I have had no problems with it. The GYN inserts it, In a few weeks they check the strings to make sure they are avaliable for extraction. 5 yrs later you can get it removed and replaced. It is more effective than birthcontrol bills too. You dont have to worry about forgetting a pill etc... I love it
Well I had my tubes tied after my last c-section because I did not want anymore children. I just hope losing weight doesn't do anything there lol. Not saying that I get any these days anyways but when I get back into the dating scene and find another man I don't want to have to be worried about getting pregnant but these days safety is an issue so condoms it will be.

i love depo, no periods yay! but im curious, does it make you gain weight after a vsg? i go on depo in spurts every few years and i always gain weight from it. not sure if it's cuz i eat more or it just makes my body gain from hormones (or you know how some pills just make you fatter like antidepressants).
I am in the same boat.... Don't want the pills because I have heard stories about them. So I have the Mireana IUD...first time body recjected it, but luckly did not get pregnant... Had it reinserted...Will check in a week or so for placement. Last time placement was fine when checked, went back weeks later for another reason and found that body had rejected it.
