Need opinions on number of meals/snacks per day

My NUT wants me on three meals a day and no snacks, but at 6 months out my capacity for dense protein is still only 2.5 ounces or so. There's no way I'm making my protein goals without eating more often. I try to eat every 2-3 hours, which works out to about 6 times a day. It seems to be working very well for me, but I'll reevaluate if I need to.

I eat every 3 to 4 hours, which usually comes out to 3 meals, 1 snack and a protein shake.  It depends on how busy I am, whether I'm working or off, and whether I am hungry at night after dinner.

My surgeon is one who thinks getting into the habit of snacking has a high potential to sabotage your weight loss.  His plan is 3-4 meals/day, with a total of 60 grams of protein (a bit higher if you are doing lots of weight bearing exercise).

So far that is exactly what I do, three meals, adding a shake for the 4th "meal" if I need it for the protein.  I don't know what I'll do further out, or once in maintenance.  Probably try to stick to minimal snacking though.  Maintenance is my dream world right now though, so who knows?

Umm, I eat when I'm hungry. Sometimes, that's twice a day, and sometimes, that's 7 times a day. But if I'm having a less hungry day, I add in more shakes to make sure I'm getting the protein my body needs. Just because your "capacity" increases doesn't mean you must eat more volume per sitting - portion control is something to always be aware of.

For folks a year out and most the weight lost......

It is of my opinion it is better to increase the number of meals/snacks vs. increasing the amount per feeding.

Preserving your restriction is a very important component to long term maintenance.

By always under eating your sleeves capacity insures your not putting any positive internal pressure in your sleeve thus preserving your restricted capacity.

The danger is turning into a grazer......Gotta watch that !!!

I'm over 2 years out and still have major restriction.....2oz. protein 1oz. veggie portions is just fine with me. I don't see it changing from here on out......I'm actually good for a few hours with one ounce of any food......
