2 month surgiversary and question for vets

I can't believe it's only been 2 months since my surgery.  It feels like much longer.  Overall I am doing pretty well and am starting to enjoy life without food as the centerpiece.  I'm down about 50 pounds since my 3 week pre op diet and people are definitely noticing and complimenting.

Question for those at or near goal: I cannot in my wildest dreams, picture what I will look like when small.  I see everyone's small faces in their profile pictures and the wonderful goal pictures you all share and can't ever imagine myself getting there.  Was it hard for you too?

I'm 35 and been overweight my whole adult life.  I know my body image is distorted because in the mirror I never looked as fat as i was, only in pictures when i saw myself.  Now I don't see myself getting thinner.  The mind is taking much longer to catch up. :)

I'm not a vet -- just 10 months out, but I understand where' your'e at.  You can do it!  The brain will catch up, promise.  Just take it one day at a time. Get up each day and make good choices, and before you know it someone else will be ooohing, and ahhhing about your transformation.

This isn't the website I was looking for but My Body Gallery lets you input a height, weight, body shape, etc. and see pictures of real women that fit that criteria.  Kind of helps you visualize what you may look like.

The website I was looking for had an actual chart that you could find the height and then move over to weight you wanted to click on a stack of pics.  If I find it, I will update.

Completely Normal......

My best suggestion is not to over think it......

Just let it happen..... focus on the WL and getting to goal....everything else falls into place....It is what it is.....

It takes about 6 months for the mind to sort of catch up.......

I'm 3 years out. . . and yes, that's one of the hardest things about having this surgery. . . seeing yourself as you really are.  It takes a loooong time for your head to catch up with your weight loss.  I still have to look at myself with a hand mirror into a larger mirror to get a REAL look at how I look! ha.  Kinda funny.  In the same way we didn't see ourselves as FAT, we have trouble seeing our new selves as THIN.   But, boy, it sure is FUN!

As you walk through this process, you will undergo many mental and physical changes, and sometimes it feels like a roller coaster. .  . other times, not so much. .  . kinda tranquil.  It's all a part of the path you will be walking. .  . walking right into your new BEAUTIFUL, HEALTHY, THIN, LIFE! !  Congratulations!

I still, when I catch myself in the mirror, or see a picture of myself, say...WOW, that's ME!  But then when I look at old photos before WLS, I can't believe I looked like that!  You will adjust to the new you, I know I did, and am so much happier with the new me!  Take it a day at a time and enjoy the journey!
