Green Smoothie

Hello everyone!

I have had so many requests about my green smoothies. I have changed it or just add anything green to it. Here is a basic recipe. Keep in mind you can add any greens to change the flavor just a little.  I have this down to a science now when it comes to adding different things from daikon root which makes it spicy to ginger the same thing which adds a different flavor. I will drink the spicer greens smoothies but I like them more mild so I dont use daikon root anymore or spicy mustard greens.  ginger is once in a blue moon ( but veeeery little)  Get use to the basic recipe. sometimes I add chia seeds or flaxseed meal.  Kale, spinach, and collard greens.  But kale and spinach is the main staple.

I eyeball everything and if i make a lot...  i pour it in different glasses put plastic over the top and stick it in the fridge.  Its good for 3 days but I always drink my extra green smoothie the same day  or until the following day.

Green Smoothie:
Kale   ( always)  my staple

Spinach ( always) my staple

Collard Greens  ( always )  my staple

Arugula  ( sometimes )  it gives it a clear crisp taste

parsley  ( always )  heavy metal detoxer  my staple

Cilantro  ( always)  heavy metal detoxer  my staple

Celery  ( always and a stalk)  my staple

Carrot tops ( I have or when i have them)

Beet tops  ( when i have them  )

Bok choy  ( sometimes )

Alkaline Water   ( use distilled next best..  or then just use any water )

1 Green apple ( did i say green?)

1 banana unless I am making a big batch   i use 2 and make a full pitcher

Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade  ( something I do and i have posted before) Not required but a must for me!

Protein powder  I do this because of the sleeve

ice cubes to chill the drink  ( not to a slushie consistency, just to chill)

Avocado lately gives it a creamy texture.  you have to drink it without the avocado to
appreciate the texture the avocado gives.

sometimes I put carrot into the drink
The green apple and banana acts like a sweetener.

I use a "Vitamix Blender"  it blends well, not like a regular blender.  BUT if a regular
blender is all you have...  USE IT!

The human jaw cannot chew and break down the greens to release and break down the
cells in greens.  By blending it, it chews the food for you, you get your veggies in,
the most important thing, it releases and breaks down the cells so your body gets
more of the minerals and vitamins. the human jaw cannot or isn't strong enough to
chew to the consistency the greens need to be in when going through the digestive
process and give us its accurate minerals and vitamins.  Blend Blend Blend!

Did you know Greens are a protein?   Yep they are!  its just the FDA doesn't recognize
it as a protein...   BUT GREENS ARE PROTEIN!!!!!

Did you know that carrot tops and beet tops have more vitamins and minerals than the root
itself?   its true...   So I add both to my smoothie sometimes.

All what I just wrote, I have done it all in one drink.  or you can leave some
ingredients out if you wish.

I crave greens, my hands look younger and healthier.  my hair shines more,  Definitely not constipated,  its a detox, it makes me have energy and a clear mind, my cravings for fatty foods and like chips and crackers are gone and  so much more.  I actually salavate for greens!!!
Its really true...  what is interesting is that I salavate more for cooked veggies.  Its like my
new cake!

Any questions  just ask away!

EDIT:
PS:....    If your making a big batch, you want to add more banana.

Remember the fruit acts like a sweetener because greens taste bitter.  Make it sweet
enough through the banana etc to make it palatable!

VITAMIX BLENDER IS A MUST AND WILL BE YOUR BEST INVESTMENT.
i have tried a regular blender and the greens are still small chunks.
I will use this if i were on a vacation and my vitamix isnt around but the vitamix is a must.

Disclaimer:
Not recommeded for anyone who just had surgery. I started green smoothies 4 1/2 months out.

Thanks for posting. You answered my big question - when did you start including these in your diet. I am almost 6 weeks out and tried one about a week ago and it did not sit well in my stomach. I was a huge veggie eater before surgery (it was the cookies and ice cream that made me fat) and I am craving veggies so much. I include veggies at each meal (usually 1/4 c protein and 1/4 cup veggies) which means I have to include a protein shake to get my protein in. Was hoping to add the greens and veggies to my shake, but I think it is too early. I am looking forward to adding some raw veggies when I get the OK from MD. I cant stand the taste of anything sweet anymore - yeah!

Its toooOOOoo soon for you.  I started at 4 1/2 months out.  Even that might have been too
soon but sat well with me.

I also eat a lot of coconut and i grow my own sprouts from lentils, to broccoli sprouts, alfalfa sprouts and all beans  sprouts..  lentils are my favorite,  I am sprouting fenugreek right now.

I blend a reeds avocado ( from farmers market) in my smoothie everyday.
any avocado will do.

Love fresh coconut but i know it is too early for that too. How do you make your sprouts? My mother used to make alfalfa sprouts in a jar but dont remember how she did it. Have never had lentil sprouts - would love to try them.  I cant wait to be able to eat a bigger variety of vegetables (and nuts).

When it comes to smaller seeds, I do have a seed sprouter for it that you can buy online for specifically sprouting smaller seeds such as alfalfa, broccoli sprouts, radish sprouts and so on.
the holes have to be smaller.

yes you can use a jar and have. Now I just bought a flat round colander with a separate bottom to cup the colander found at the Asian store. the bottom flat is a base.

any beans or seeds I soak for 12 hours in water. Then I rinse them and lay them in the colander. I water meaning rinse morning and night and let them grow.

If I use a glass jar, I use window screen and hold it with rubberbands.  when I rinse I tip the jar upside down at a 45 degree angle and let it drain. Important to let your seeds and beans drain.

Lentil sprouts are so amazing.

I add the following:

Lentils Sprouts
Sesame oil
Sesame Chili Oil
Goji Berries ( superfood antioxident
Raw Shelled Coconut
Reeds Avocado ( from Farmers Market)
Toasted Sesame Seeds  ( I have left them out )
Hymalayan Salt and Cracked Pepper

Yum-o!
