wonderfully delicious little snacks a bad idea?

So I have found these amazing things that are called "mini baguette crisps" (the size of a tiny, tiny cracker).  They are 90 calories for 10 crisps, 14 carbs, less than 1 sugar, 2 grams protein.  The past week I have been obsessed with them.  However, I do not eat them alone, always with protein, either 1 or 2 oz. of cheese or with hummus, or whatever my meal is.  Any thoughts?  I know it's considered a "carb", but considering I only have about 4-6 per day, should I just completely stay away from them?  To me they don't seem too bad, but then again, I'm not a vet!!!!!!

I'm almost 6 wks out, and I was told I could use Melba toast, and the wheat Ritz crackers are the same nutritionally.  It's certainly better than the amount of bread I used to eat!

There are always 2 SIDES to every coin.

Side 1 = MAXIMIZE your weight loss and stay away from ALL carbs
Side 2 = A LITTLE bit never hurts

(I'm sure there are other sides as well)...but I'm on Side 3 which means...what's YOUR trigger.  Were carbs a BIG part of your preop life and do YOU think they were a problem?  What was the problem and do YOU honestly think you have a handle on it so that eating them at 2 months out is OK.  If so do YOU....if you are even thinking they MIGHT be a problem then you already know the answer.

I have been trying to stay away from these types of carbs mostly because they trigger me into craving more like them.  Any carb I am in love with I pretty much stay away from at least for now.  I figure once I get to goal I MAY TRY to bring in a few of these types of things just to get a little variety.  But then, maybe not.  I guess it just depends on how my head handles it....I am sooo crazy when it comes to carby things...

It's taken 5 days of white knuckling it to get over the cravings from having carbs on thanksgiving.  i will be very careful before i do that again and it will have to be worth it (Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthday) because these 5 days have been a biotch and a half.

Those sound great I have only found melba snacks - I am unlike others I think good carbs or limited carbs is not a bad thing.  My nut and surgeon agree if it doesn't send you into a binge then they said I could eat whatever carbs I wanted.

thanks for the words of wisdom everyone... i do appreciate it.  my NUT told me to not worry about the carbs so much.  she said concentrate on the protein grams and total calories (between 800 -1000).  i'm only around 500 calories a day so far and getting in all of my protein so hoping the little crispy things aren't hurting anything, although i have to be careful because i do like them so much, i don't want to bring out my addictiveness with food again.  thanks again. :)

500 cals is literally starvation and these little crisps don't have any nutrition. I would stay away from them until you are getting in at least 800 cals from nutrient dense foods.

if you have room for these empty calorie foods, you have room for extra cheese or another spoon of hummus.
The 100 calories you are wasting on the crisps, you could be eating 100 cals of something nutritious.

your NUT is right,if you are getting 800-1000 cals a day of dense nutrition, you don't have to worry so much about carbs. But you aren't getting in 800-1000 cals of dense food. you are getting *at least* 100 cals of junk a day.
Good luck,
Holly

You are ating WAY too many carbs with crap like that.

Yes it is delicious, BUT is is also NOT on any approved list during weight loss.

You can either fool around, and make all kinds of excuses to eat anything you want to eat,  OR, you can get serious about peeling off the weight.

You know darn good and well that you should not be eating anything that is almost all carbs.

And 4-6 today will sonn lead to 8-12, then to 16-24.

Stop playing games and STAY ON PROGRAM.   If a lazy old man like me could do it, are you going to pretend that YOU can't?

That is a serious slider food.....I wouldn't make it a regular part of your diet unless you are far into maintenance.
