JUNE 2011 SLEEVERS CHECK IN!! PICS!!
Hey all,
I am down 77 pounds From the day the coordinator gave me my surgery date. I am in the homestretch and feeling great!.
I gotta say that when I began all this my goal was to get in size 10's again. (I was in that size when I got married in 93). Now I can wear a size 8 jean! Are you frekkin kidding me??. I a,m blown. Of course I know some of it is vanity sizing but shoot that whole scheme works for me--makes me feel skinny--sure I will take it!
I have people at work telling me that I should not lose more weight. Some call me skinny minnie and others keep ooohing and such. I really don't ask for or want the attention--I will get enough of that when next spring/summer rolls around.
At this rate I will be in size 4's by goal. I can't even imagine me in a 4. The sleeve is amazing.
I am strict with my eating. I stay away from carbs, junk, candy, soda. Pre-op I was not a food addict, just a yo-yo dieter that over indulged in Pepsi and crash diets. Now sweets make me sick, almost like dumping. I eat tiny portions, drink a nasty protein drink for bkfast,protein/veggie for lunch and dinner and 64 oz of water. I don't snack often--if ever.
I would love to be at the bni normal weight by next months Dr visit. My body does its own thing though so I'm not going to bet on it either way.

I'm doing great! My 6 month is this Saturday. I'm not going to make my 120 goal, but I'll definitely pass 110. I'm very pleased. I'm looking forward to being below 250 by the end of the year.
As for setbacks- not many. Travel was a challenge for my focus and exercise. And I had more travel than usual, but I still progressed, which is key. I have a 3 week vacation coming up in a couple of weeks. I will be extra diligent. Physically, travel is soooo much easier.
I think that I am having much worse lactose intolerance. I'm not eating ice cream or cereal, but I'm reacting to something. My boss is convinced that it is cheese...THE HORROR! I never used to react to cheese. I hope that I am not reacting now. I'll try to figure it out over the next few days.
What has changed? BP was barely high, now it isn't. Sciatica is worse. I cross my legs which was an accidental discovery when I was trying to stretch for my sciatica. My cardio is much better. I ran a couple of times on the treadmill -2 minutes. Someone told me that I looked taller earlier this week. I know that my relationship with food is getting better. Shoe size is 11 instead of 11W. I just purchased a XL t-shirt for the future, but it already fits!
I'm on track with food. I don't try for perfection. I try for compliance 99% of the time. I just dropped 5.2 pounds in a week and I didn't see that coming. This has been an awesome experience. Feeling better just makes me happier. I just got to figure out what is going on with the crampy bloated feeling that I get on occasion. It can be pretty severe. Burping and/or vomiting helps alot- but not always possible. I'm going to record what I ate when it occurs to see what the pattern is.

Hello fellow June Sleevers! Glad to see everyone is doing so well! I am feeling great and I can't believe how easy this whole process has been. I've never had the willpower to eat the things I should but once Sleevie Nicks came along I have found that not feeling hungry all the time and the knowledge that I had an amazing tool to aid me has really made me turn the corner. It's so easy to avoid the cakes and cookies and candy that people are constantly bringing to work. I can say no thank you with a smile and not obsess about having a piece.
The only real problem I have had is some increased back and neck pain. This is not related to the surgery itself but it is related to the weight loss. My girls have definitely shrank but they are still big and as I get smaller it a heavy burden to bear but strength training has really help to decrease the pain. Had my 6 month check-up today. Everything was great except for my B1 and B12 levels so I am going to add those to my vitamin regimen but the best news I got today was I am no longer pre-diabetic!! I'm not even close! In fact my A1C level now is in the "decreased risk of diabetes" rage!! That was an awesome accomplishment! I'm looking forward to the next 6 months! Everyone keep up the great work!!!

Howdy! 6/21/11 Sleever here...
The most recent pics I have are my 5-month. I'll post the side view (the one I can tell the most on), but I have a few others in my albums.

I really haven't had any setbacks, but the last 2 weeks I've only lost 1 lb per week. Other than that, I've been averaging 1-5 lbs/week.
I am down 107 from highest weight, and 82 lbs since surgery.
At my highest, I was in 26/28 jeans and 4-5X tops.
I am currently in baggy 20 jeans (gettin close to 18s!!) and 1-2X tops. I actually bought a nighty in Kohls last weekend that was a size Large!! No X's!!! WOW
I have been sticking to plan about 95% of the time. I allow myself a treat every now & then. My most frequent treat is popcorn, so it's not that bad. I use sparkpeople.com to track my daily food intake. I also bought a 32oz Bubba mug to try & get my water in. That's my biggest struggle is getting the water in. I can drink normal gulps/sips now, but only 1 or 2 at time.
On average I am eating about 50-70 grams of protien daily, less than 40 carbs, and 500-800 calories. I don't track fat, and try to do low sugar if it's an option. I still do a protien shake every morning. Some days when I'm in a hurry, I use the pre-made Carnation S/F chocolate shakes. They seem to have the most protein for OTC shakes that are somewhat affordable :)
My food choices consist of: Lite Yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs w/cheese, ham & cheese sandwich minus bread, grilled shrimp, some pork & beef, beef jerkey for the occasional snack, protein bars, peanuts, s/f popcicles. I also try & work in some veggies when I can.
I have GREAT restriction. For dense food (meat), I can only eat 2.5-3 oz. Softer foods 3-5 oz. I really haven't discovered a slider yet, except popcorn. I can almost eat a whole bag! :( I have been popping a bag, then splitting it in half & putting 1/2 in a ziplock for later.
Unfortunatly the last 6 weeks or so, I have had to postpone exercise. Previously my hubby & I got a YMCA membership and I was walking & using pool for regular exercise. However, I had to have a surgery on my ankle on 11/9 and am not cleared yet for walking. As soon as I'm cleared, we'll be back to the Y. I can't wait...I've notice my strength going down and need to build it back up.
I have LOTS of loose skin. I know it's genetic, so not much I can do about it now. Eventually may be doing a little nip-tuck here and there. The worse parts are my upper arms, tummy and inner thighs. Luckily clothing seems to hide most of it well enough. I am really shocked & excited about fitting into smaller cloths! I bought a few 1X shirts several months ago for "future" wardrobe and they are fitting now! Crazy!!
Well, that's all for now. Glad everyone is doing well!

Hi to all my fellow June Sleevers!!! My date was 6/29. I've been bouncing between 75 and 78 pounds lost for the last few weeks, but I'm not too worried about it as I routinely lose in steps. Lose, stall, lose stall. The great thing is that although I've stalled weight wise, I lost size. I started at 3x-4x scrubs and tops in regular clothes and can now wear a med or large (depending on the maker) and size 14-16 pants (again, depnding on the maker) and Lg tops. I'm even down a shoe size and can wear regular width shoes, which I've never been able to do before. . I've eaten a few carbs but I don't lie about them...I count them. I still follow my protein first rule.
My life has changed so dramatically in the past 5 months that it's crazy. I feel great, have gotten over that crazy weird fatigue stage and have an overabundance of energy.
I'm off blood pressure med, and I don't hurt anymore. I can go all day on my feet at work (nurse) come home feeling great and still keep up with my kids...Yay!
My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner.
My goal is 80 lbs lost by Christmas....and my personal goal weight is only about 25 lbs away.
I can only sing the praises of my sleeve!!!
Glad to see everyone is doing well! I love these posts!

Wow, 6 months already! Crazy talk!
I'm going great! I have had a few food set backs, but I'm still on track and working on being more organized to pack my lunch and seek out protien rich "snacks".
I have had a newish job for the past couple months and it was just what I needed! There is NO way 6 months ago I would have had the energy and the stamina to do this job. I'm so full of energy, I'm actually looking people in the eye, saying Hi first, engaging myself into conversations, and meeting new people. So much more confidence, I feel like a totally different person and i love it!
I have slacked really bad in the exercise dept. While I'm always moving and on my feet at work, I'm a slug at home.
I have about 90 more lbs to reach my random goal I set. I'm wearing size 20/22 pants down from a very tight 28. 14/16 or 18/20 shirt. Not into regular sized clothing just yet, but very very soon. I have some size 20 gap pants that I'm waiting to fit into.
Sounds like everyone else is doing great!
My latest compliment was that I look taller and younger then 34. I never noticed, but I do stand up" straighter" and seem to raise my head with confidence. I have noticed more lingering looks from men, but that actually makes me feel great. I thought it would make me feel very uncomfortable.
Ok, random train of thoughts there, I should really go to bed!
